This one has some deferred maintenance though, and a few bonehead misses that will hurt the get price on it. I am always surprised that the free, cheap and easy things aren't automatically taken car of before a listing - vacuum the interior, remove rotted hood pad, get $7 jump post cover, and replace missing air box strap. These things demonstrate a lack of knowledge about the car or a lack of concern.
Car was sold by the previous owner's son for stupidly cheap money out of San Jose CA, IIRC (at least the ad stated San Jose).
Current owner is going for the quick flip (I think already surpassed his purchased price, since the ask back in July was ~$8k or so) and won't be bothered enough for the "little things" that we care about.
He will double on his investment in no time.

I would be disappointed as a seller and fankly I wouldn't list one of my cars there now. We've seen this too many times now!

Hey guys what do you think a 1988 928 with 162k would be worth in good running condition? Driver quality . I can get it for $3,000.00 but it is not running . Body good but faded red paint . Interior decent but dry . I'm sure I can get it running inexpensive, it has good compression . Will be worth a long road trip to pick up ? I get pics

DZA:

"What's it worth?"

This is always hard to answer, especially with no pic reference or history. What's it worth to you? If it is an auto, can you check crank endplay? What about the TT? You cannot listen to those moving parts if it isn't running. Price also would depend on what you, the buyer, wants to do with it. If you want a DD, and you are sure about the "run" issue, I think that is a fair price. You will have a car that apparently shows it age and mileage, inside and out, but can be driven. Perhaps you will want to stay close to home with this car? 0.02 cents.

Auction winding down. Needs lots of interior work but still seems cheap.

This looks like a potential nice deal. 1994 GTS auto. White over blue. Condition looks good. 54K miles and only asking $59K.

It's also on e-bay with $59K BIN price. Also on e-bay is black & tan '94 with ~15K less miles and engine in better shape. Maintenance was done 3 years ago BUT they unfortunately block out who did it. Current bid at $47K (reserve not met) and 3.5 days to go.

How do you know the engine of the white GTS is in worse shape? Not as clean looking as the black car but health wise it is impossible to determine from just photos.. The black car was also in an accident. No matter how minor, that has potential to hold back its value forever. How much, who knows, but that history stays with the VIN.

Definitely not as nice as Michael Strahan's 5 spd.

I was there a while back looking at a 94 turbo for someone. They saiid they were getting a nice GTS in soon. ?? WHat is going on with the front bumper?

I can take a close look at this if anyone needs me to but I think we know what it is all about.

Michael's car is far nicer. I saw it up close just after he purchased it.

One looks as though it's had a top-end refresh, one does not. One has what appears to be re-zinced quadrant, hose clamps, etc., one does not. One is missing its jump-post cover & drip cover, one does not. One has 15k less miles on the engine, one does not. The white car does not have the appearance that whoever was doing maintenance cared about the quality of their work. I get it, I don't have x-ray vision eyes nor the telekinetic ability to perform a TB check or compression check. But in a head-to-head comparison of those engine bays, there's a clear winner.
