928s for Sale

Have seen this one in person before - very nice car. Surprised the owner sold it. I believe it was originally owned by Heather Thomas??
If anyone is interested in a '94 GTS automatic that's 110% mechanically sound (as in better than new), this GTS
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...strong-er.html
is in my shop right now getting some odds and ends tended to.
It is quietly for sale.
For those with TL;DR syndrome:
- 94 GTS Auto, White on Cashmere
- ~52k-miles
- engine out refresh by Greg Brown in 2016
- Full head job
- Missing oil drain holes in pistons no longer missing thanks to Greg
- All engine bits new/re-plated/clean-enough to eat off of.
- Black Sea's SuperClamp
I have not done my full-day over-under inspection on it. I might be able to find something mechanically in need. But, I doubt it. Factory orange peel is present on all panels so I'm pretty sure it's a no-accident GTS.
It's not going to end up on BaT anytime soon. Asking $85k.
If anyone is interested PM me and I'll put you in touch with the owner.

'89 auto, 42K miles
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1989-Porsch...NbY5-M&vxp=mtr
It's in Lemon Grove, Cali; Looks like a parts car from his brief description, but not priced as such. He says it starts, transmission rebuilt, exhaust needs to be put back on, no pics of interior; he has to move, sounds ominous.

Tony, I was there and gave this car a proctology exam - the stated 44K miles is not even close. 144K maybe. Besides a new paint job, this car had needs. That price was all the money. In fact, it amazed me that so may cars at Mecum looked so good on TV but in the flesh weren't so great.

Dave,
I was under the impression he was asking about this tool
I don't believe the GTS center caps used the tool for the center caps. The caps on all my early 90's vintage Porsche's predated the plastic caps that used that tool and had no holes.

Hi Anthony,
Could have been, I was just putting a part number on the other one as it was also being discussed.
Jeannie, more coffee please.....Sorry, but you have me confused, are you saying the earlier metal caps, or the late plastic caps didn't have holes?
Happy Sunday Morning,
Dave

Hi Anthony,
I forgot to add, I am curious if you have ever used that for a wheel center removal tool? I have never seen that related to 928 Wheel Center Removal before and would love to see it demonstrated for that, I know I NOT have seen everything and strive to learn something new everyday, but I don't see how it would work for that.
I do see how it might be handy for pulling loose spark plugs out of the deep channels of the cam covers when they fall out of the factory SP Tool Socket(that it rests beside). I am just not seeing how to use that, with it's curved back hook on the end, vs the normal 90 degree bends that allow you to get the right angle to go thru and behind the center cap removal holes without damage to the caps.
Note the curved back loop on the end of the tool you posted above...now look at the hook on an Audi Wheel Center Tool below(adopted by Porsche in last decade or so??) It has the 90 Degree angle just like the Porsche Removal Tool (except it is U shaped and has 2 hooks) shown below that.
So that's my theory on that little tool, but I am eager to hear others.
Cheers,
Dave

Dave - My GTS had the hook tool in the right place in the tool box. My car came from the factory with painted crest center caps with two holes. You cannot use the tool in the hole of the cap to remove it.
Could it be for another use???

I’ve always thought it was for removing the cap to the wheel lock covers.

Correct, that is my assessment also. I believe that little tool started in 91? But not 100% on that.
I think I hinted about that in last post(spark plug related?), I have never used it for that, but I have seen references to it,... although I do freely admit I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn last night . LOL However, somebody here has to know for sure and I am too curious now!
Cheers,
Dave

Ironic part of this IIRC, is that the wheel locks changed in 94 to Mcgard Type and no longer had the little cap.

Dave

The tool is 928 361 311 00 and listed "hook for cover wheel nut" in PET on the 924/944/968 cars but not listed for 928's at all.

Correct, of course, Dave. My car came with the later style of wheel locks but someone could have changed them before my ownership. Need to look at a 94/95 to see if the tool is included in the tool set or deleted.
