928s for Sale

LOL this car sold for 16k CDN a few months ago then ended up in PQ. It has a ton of needed maintenance, nice colour but no way it's worth 40k now.

We talked about the rub strips with the owner and we were both affraid to try and pull them off. We think they are adhesive, but have been on there probably since near new...anyone have suggestions? Or, should we just wait for the next owner?

I'd consult with with an auto paint pro in your area before pulling them off. IIRC Kiln_Red..a pro painter and member here would be a good person to pm on this if you cannot find anyone. T

yes, I'm missing it too. I ran a paint meter all over the outside of the car, door jambs, trunk, etc. It's all within factory spec and very consistent. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. And, several experts in 928 have seen the car in person and have found nothing of the sort.

Actually DR, it is a show stopper. Not sure how the paint match could be so perfect with a heavy impact. Plus, those bumper strips were installed at the dealer when new. We think they are glued on. Not sure how they would even get those same ones to match up...also, the only way to get the paint that thin and perfect (within 0.0003 inches delta panel to panel) would be to replace the door. Then, how would they get to match on the side a super hard color to match. Then, why wouldn't they blend and clear into the other two panels, which would be the only way to get a half way decent match. I'm scratching my head here why you made an accusation like that. If anyone on this thread is near Costa Mesa, come on by and check it out in person and let me know if you think it's had a "hard impact."

No doubt a beautiful 928, BUT I am a little confused....
Ad says: "The paint looks fantastic with hardly any signs of use. It is all original paint and verified with a meter (see pics). There are a few very light scratches (see pics.) "
and pic from Autokennel website shows this....
Looks like a pretty hard impact on door, yet paint is "original" ???
Not a show stopper, but I think it should be disclosed, especially at that price.
Happy Tuesday,
Dave

For the pontificators out there...here are pics taken a few minutes ago. I seriously can't see any signs of damage, etc. Maybe the reflections are teasing the eyes

I just did my own sanity check on the ones in the shop.
All just the same as in the pictures.
Funny, until now, I'd never paid attention to how complex is the shape around the door latches (even though I've disassembled them many times.)
I've learned something new about taking 928 pictures.
Nothing to see here folks. Move along
