it is a sort of mold ,the finish does this when its been damp and dark.
That car would look nicer with the 16 inch phone dials,
the 15s are the base version and lose the nice curves that the 16s have
I ran it through 928OC VIN decoder - came back with the following message:
"Valid VIN but Factory info is missing from 928 VIN database
VIN 92A0821081 with Registry Title: " 1980 928 S RoW 1071"
is number 1071 out of 1182 produced for 1980 928 S RoW market
Hello, I was at the Porsche dealer on sat. and my friend, (sold the most 918's in USA) said that the Chinese have lifted the ban on importing sport car from US/Europe. Thousands of buyers looking for our cars, prices are sure to go thru the roof!
I'd say don't do that. No reserve cars over there seem to go for less. You were asking $16K. IMO a no reserve for a high mileage automatic with all the custom mods you did may not bring over $10k. The buyers looking to get into 928s are paying a premium for original cars. Unless you have the original steering wheel, rims, radio, shifter, etc. that you can replace the mods with, I'd say hold on to it. My guess is the reason you have had no luck is the same. Customization is fine except when it comes to selling your car. No one wants to buy someone else's vision. I'd suggest replacing all the aftermarket bits and put it up for sale on BaT in the summer when the feeding frenzy on 928s is in full swing again. Plus if they are selling one a week like last year, the likelihood of them allowing you to have a reserve should be higher.
OK well, to my great surprise, when I got back to BaT to say "no thanks" to the no reserve listing, they hit me back with a suggested $14,500 reserve if I want to still go ahead with a listing. So I guess I am going to try to list it on BaT, although they caught me off guard without enough good pictures. I am currently trying to delay the listing to give me a chance to take a complete gallery of photos and sort of spruce things up a bit, wipe up the engine bay etc.

Thats one of the best things about BaT auctions. lots of good pics. And they require them.

That's good news! Grab a friend with a DSLR camera and take some sunset shots at a cool locale. And what ever you do, don't forget the "money shot"... 3/4 rear view from above.

Congrats! Seems like the recent run up of the S4 prices changed their minds about the reserve!
Take your time and take good pics. Dusk/dawn brings out the best subtle changes of the car's colors.
Best of luck!
