Default Exhaust Spitting Black Carbon?

Noticed this the other day on my floor, closed the little garage door behind the shark & goosed her up a little and inspected the rear area and found this.

Curious to know as my car does this too.

Running too rich maybe?

But why?

Might need an ECU reset. Disconnect battery for a bit, reconnect, drive like you stole it.

Condensation in your exhaust system being blown out. Not anything to worry about.

I have had the same problem - still do sometimes. Sean called it right.

However, when I got the GT, it had an RMB. My wife was upset with it puking black soot on our new concrete driveway. So I told her the rear muffler was missing (not trapping soot) and that a Lomas exhaust system would cure it.

Could be a tad rich if Ken's chips and injectors are in there too, although unlikely to be the case. Looks normal to me.

Was the engine cold or at normal working temperature ? If the former then the mixture is usually over rich during the warm up sequence.

I am running ken's ignition chip only currently as I just got the design II 24lb injectors from roger. Also I didn't want to change everything at once if an issue presented after the ignition chip, new plugs, fuel lines, plugs wires, X pipe, etc...

I am planning on installing the fuel chip and the injectors very soon. I am not sure when it spits the black muck. I will check tonight when I get home on a warm engine and a cool and see what is produced.

So you are running the additional timing without the additonal fuel that is needed to cover the additional timing?

I'm hoping Ken did not suggest this as an alternative....

I am pretty sure I was told I could run the EZ chip in an S4 car without having to bump the injectors to 24lb, and that I should hold off on the LH until I install the 24lb injectors.

I just reviewed Ken's website to verify, it states the below:
Required EZ only:
- S4 camshafts
- Idle and WOT inputs must function

Required EZ+LH:
- S4 camshafts
- MAF screens installed
- O2 sensor, IE. no ROW no-cat
- Idle and WOT inputs must function
- 24# injectors - Bosch design II (special o-ring)

Did I miss understand something? Or did I screw something up?

Also found this on the LiftBars Site...

If having a mechanic install the chip(s), purchasing the EZ chip only is recommended.
Issues related to the required 24# injector upgrade often take many hours to sort out.

I am missing something?

I thought there were 2 versions of that EZ chip:

- One that can be ran with 24lb injectors, Bosch 7992 spark plugs, which are colder, and must be run with the LH chip.

- One that is tuned for the factory 19lb injectors only.
