I'll tell you what.

I really love the whole concept of Leroy and really love the people that are responsible for Leroy being out there. The responsible party/parties for Leroy are some of the very best people on this earth! I really hate the idea of Leroy "biting the dust" over something like this.

You round up a couple/three core transmissions to cherry pick parts out of and I'll supply the labor to build another transmission.

And.....

If you can figure out how to do it, we can film the entire disassembly, cherry picking of the parts....with explainations of what makes a part good and what makes a part not as good, along with assembly. You can even make a class out of it, if you want!

You will have to probably buy a couple of syncros, since good used 1st and 2nd gear syncros are really tough to come by....and we will need a gasket set. Maybe people that benefit from the class/filming can donate something?

Maybe I could disassemble a couple of these things ahead of time...to find enough good pieces and we could disassemble one for filming on a Saturday and put it back together the same day.

And....I'll offer up my shop, my lifts, and my tools to swap the thing out....maybe the next day?

If you can recruit a few people to help get it in and out....that would be great.

If you get a better offer, it's cool, but that's what I'm willing to do.

Is it an 03 or an 05 box that's in the car?
I've got two very low mileage 03s that both shift nicely (both LSD), and one 05 that has more wear (1st/2nd syncros) also LSD.
If it's an 05, I'll pitch it in (you pay shipping) sans LSD (ring will be inside the case).
The 03s I do need to get $$$ for.

Does the trans gasket set (928 300 901 01) that Mark sells work for all 5-speed transmissions? If so I have an extra one here that I'll donate to the cause.

But I want to be there to help with the video capture of the event.

What I found are two early transmissions, one pretty sure is out of 79, second Tim thinks is from a newer wreck and maybe in better shape. They are sitting under a bench at Devitos here in Orange. I stopped by to see what he might have while bringing home lunch, so didn't have time to look at the numbers on the bottom, but I might be able to swing by today. Tim seemed amenable to selling one or both at a fair price, which I really don't know what that might be, $300 or $400?

Yes, his follow through and backing really changes the scenario for leeroy.

I will get the transportation for the car sorted.

I love the whole concept of the Leroy car.

What makes it work is the idea that the car is better leaving than when it arrived.

What makes it REALLY special is the support of guys like Greg Brown, Mark Anderson, Jim Bailey, Ducman who have the capability to lend facilities, knowledge and support to the cause.

It is phenomenal in this day and age that someone like Greg would volunteer his time to repair this vehicle while educating others in the methodology necessary to perform those repairs. I'll have to watch the video, but post it and I'll watch it. Thanks guys. All of you.

Did anybody round up a couple or three transmissions to source parts from?

I checked the ones at Devitos, both are 03, but he said he had not heard from anybody about them.

I'm not sure what kind of contribution I would make, but I will be there if I can.
