928 RS Concept Sketch
#406
Pete Stout, Editor of Porsche Panorama contacted me tonight.
He wrote:
I'll need to see final-form snap shots of the car before final approval, but I love your concept, and have cc'd author Ted West in on this email.
Please keep us informed as you go forward, and have a great weekend!
This is really an honor for me, i started reading and collecting Panorama about 20 years ago.
Pressure is on.

I just found this video looks like a similar theme

Stan, they kept the rub strips and rear wiper on lexan after all that work.
Found the presentation video irritating. But nice job for sure. I'll bet you love that yellow!
I feel weird about Panorama in light of Pablo's Magazine Flussig.
It would be really cool but It should be a story for Pablo's new
Porsche magazine first.
I bet most of you agree.

Matt I think they might have 2 hatches one for the big wing and lexan window.
And the original with factory glass (see the defroster grid) and the S4 type wing.
OR they were only mocking up the big wing and lexan window before final install of the glass and S4 wing
Funny how they installed the bump strips on the LR quarter. maybe they put them all back on

I agree that it should be a story for Pablo's Flussig (and first) but that in no way should compromise a story in Panorama, or Excellence, or Road & Track, or Life (wait, they don't publish that one any more, do they?) - the overriding objective IMHO is to get the story out!

Yes Martin you are right. Pablo will do it first, we have become fast friends.
Pete Stout is very excited about this and emailed me again today:
I'm really excited about this story—it's just the kind that reminds me I haven't seen it all.
I am happily surprised that there is so much interest in the 928 at the top within Panorama. That's the real story here.

Yes, you're probably right Shawn.
Thanks, doing my best to get it right. I'm respraying a couple things that have paint flaws. PITA
Plenty of 928 owners already have their cars set up as RSs.

Hey Matt I was thinking what about adding the rear foglamp , Euro style
the cutout is already on the inside of the PU and a few parts and a switch you will have function.
IIRC you may be able to cut the hole without removal of the PU cover
NOTE the lamp wires are run along with the tag lamps,
The pod lower left is where the switch goes,
then reposition the odo reset wires to a push button on the bottom edge of the pod.
Just one more little detail that will set things apart.
The cover gets cut,
then a rubber trim grommet is installed,
then the lamp is fasted to the rear bumper support.
I know it adds a bit of weight maybe about 1 pound but the Euro flavor is evident

Cool idea Stan, something extra to be seen is always good. You may know I was rear ended badly while sitting at a stop light in my now departed Carerra
I am adding a blink function to my brake light circuit as seen in
certain racing (i.e. LeMans 24 hour) for added safety.

Hi Matt,
I hope all is well. Here's a link to another (gulf?) blue Porsche, the Singer. They use some orange as well and might give you some ideas.

Good luck,
