Default Dash and Pod modification precedent..

Shawn, this morning while reading a 10 year old article about the 1978 Championship winning Porsche 934, (For
those that are not familiar; A 934 is a turbo powered RSR basically)

I noticed the top photo of the interior.

Porsche did do what i have done to my dash and pod. I can clearly see
the steel dash stamping under the alcantara like material.

I am pleased now with the dash and pod modification.

One step closer, hood looks consistent with the rest. Nice and flat and shiny.

Just hatch is left to do, my booth is too small to have done them both.

Sick of painting.

Has anyone ever put NACA ducts in the hood right where the intake tubes are? It is the first thing I thought about when I saw the layout of a 928 motor. Is there a downside to doing this? It would look sooooo damn cool on your beast!

Last time I crashed a 931 they pulled me out through the roof.

Never engineer for the worst case.

Matthew, She looks Awsome. I wanted to do something similar with my hood but also using 2 naca ducts where the intake tubes comes in. This gets air in and hot air out. I love the duck tail and think the pins look great. Keep the pictures coming. I love all the custom work.

Agree. I do want the key on the left with the RS so long as it is done right. Lot of power running through the ignition switch and messing with it could be very bad if done sloppy.

Strosek did, i thought they did look nice. But I believe that the stock 928 cold air intake is better.
Pressure must build in there at speed and create a ram effect.

Thanks and call me Matt. I will eventually test the hood louvers (have an idea how) Take care and thank you again, I appreciate it.

Done painting. Free at last. Hatch and ducktail look about as good as any paint i've seen. Very pleased.

Next time i post i promise the hood will be on and it will be screaming down the road.

Missing this great Fall driving weather.

FWIW moving the key in a 928 is not a trivial task,m
as the steering column must be modified in some way,
since the ignition also controls the wheel locking mechanism,
this part doesnt look like it can be flipped 180 degrees without major surgery of the mounting points of the column , there may be other wire harness issues as well,
but a first time flip would tell all

Yes, you are right Stan, must be done correctly or not at all.
It seems silly really (and not something Porsche would have done)
and i may just scratch that one concept detail
and go driving instead.
Ok, no more posts til she's on the road..

Would a right-hand drive steering column have the ignition on the left side? I spent a couple years in Japan, but that was thirty years ago, and I don't remember on which side the key is.

So he just needs to change his car to RHD. Simple enough!

Was a $11,700 factory option or alteration in the early '90s.

Well there the key would be correct and near the entry.

Not technically driving at the moment but very soon, searching for my front bumper cover nuts and washers, the bag is somewhere in here..

Will be driving her again sans hatch and door glass in the moonlight tonight.

Lookin' real good Matt.

Not sure of your plan but personally I'd go with the normal hood struts. I think the convenience outweighs any added weight.
