Otay, here's my take and quick, short term review. I will start out by saying that anything I've had to deal with in other threads where it comes to supercharging are NOT due to the kit. It was due to tuning and my lack of understanding how the Shark Tuner works with all the components involved in the set up.

The Rotrex Supercharger:

Quiet compared to other units I've had the pleasure of dealing with. Very compact with it's own oiling system that is also very simple. Mount, plumb, go. The boost seems so linear that I hardly notice it actually "kicking in". After 3k you feel what you normally would when the flappy opens up, but your *** is pushed back much more.

The kit:

Fantastically simple. There isn't any way to explain it better than that. It is a quick install and very well thought out. The actual mounting for the SC is simple but elegant. You don't have to worry about pulling off the crank pully, moving stuff around or worry about it being in the way of everything in the engine compartment. It comes with single hole injectors, new drivers side fuel rail and hose since you have to re-route a dampener and feed lines.

Everything charge side bolts right up, no messing around trying to figure out how to make an elbow or joint fit. It all fits right the first time and there is enough "play" in parts that you can actually adjust how things are mounted if you don't like how it sits. Simple and easy.

Overall impressions:

If you are wanting boost and want a simple and easy kit, this base set up is perfect. It starts out with a 6lb pulley and there are options to upgrade those as you see fit. Inter-cooler is available, a few different intake set ups (I'll have a prototype of a new air filter set up soon) available. I have a distinct feeling that I'll be installing quite a few of these in the next year or so.

My next door neighbor is a boost tard and has been a great sounding board for the past couple of years when it comes to this stuff. He helped me do a turbo install, deal with another SC kit and he's really impressed with how simple and well thought out this kit is.

In short, I am very happy that I did this and can't wait until I get it tuned properly and then start thinking about more power. It really is addicting.

Things got a little crazy with going to the ICOC so I pulled the listing for a week or so. Kit is re-listed on Ebay again. Rotrex head units are ordered, and I'm expecting delivery around the end of the week.

Only slightly off topic, but for those of us with 16V's would these fit? I'm talking purely mechanically, I know that the engine management and tuning parts are not applicable. But from a mechanical and install standpoint, would the set-up bolt onto a 4.5 or 4.7 the same way it bolts onto a 32V?

I ask because I have a raging itch for a rotrex on the 4.7 I'm building and knowing that there is something that will fit down the road would be fantastic....

As of right now we do not have a kit for pre-S4 cars. There have been few requests, but it has not accomplished this yet. First issue is that I no longer have an OB style car to develop the kit on. I had an 83 years ago, and do remember a few issues. The first hurdle would be the drive belt. The 4.7 uses all v-belts and no serpentine like on the 85+ cars. Second is the fuel injection system. We would probably have to use a fuel management unit / rising rate regulator. I am sure it is possible if someone would like to volunteer their car for a few weeks

That's a good question!! Made it there last year for just Sunday afternoon. I have been super busy lately, and I have a conference to go to in NY a few days after the Hell get together. I am going to try to show up for a few hours, but I just don't know when exactly.

Hey victor! Just realized this myself after looking at mine and then a referrence chart from 928MS, but 5 groove pulley's actually started in in 84 ! Otherwise a crank and alternator pulley would need to be transplanted on.

Some fabrication would be required. trick would be to make an adapter that changes the tube piping to the Air flow meter's square interface. it would also need to be screwed in where the air filter box currently is to sandwich the AFM as it would only hold onto the throttle body by an o-ring otherwise.

I already have an AFPR on my fuel rail for some testing. I wouldnt mind having something jerry rigged later in the year after i refresh my intake & injectors if you are still interested in developing for it.

Jonathan.

I would far from call myself an expert on boost but I am extremely happy with the design. For me I never wanted to turn the car into a world beater on the track or even the fastest car on the street. Well maybe the fast street car part,,, but I also wanted something that most people consider reliable and streetable. This low boost kit turns the car into a very fast street car that is a lot of fun to drive in traffic. Nothing crazy but you just feel like the car is King of the Road again. It just feels like someone is nudging you forward even at low rpms and when the boost in minimal. I know there are some other very good kits out there but I personally think Victor has nailed it with this kit for design and price point.

The supercharger is driven off of the cranks alternator belt pulley with the alternator The only thing you have to move is the front damper, which is moved to the back of the engine. Also you will have to relocate or remove the flappy solenoid. Also you change out the 19lb injectors out for 36lbs.

I wouldnt mind a stage 1.25 kit. 6psi IC'd.

Wanna keep the tire budget in line.

While in NY if you drop off a few superchargers, we won't complain!

Sorry guys but this trip is to more of the upstate area. I am driving the box van there for work, and will be there for 10 days. But if you want to drive up, I will have some free time and I can send you home boosted.

Hmmm, I wonder if #30 could use a boost? (well, maybe I should get her to run first..?)

Trying really really hard to resist this...

Really hard.

Has a proper post-install stage-1 (base kit) Dyno been posted? (Edit: Found one on the EBay sale)
