Resurrecting this thread. My 85 Euro has these tiesdowns installed and is of the "old" design. It creaks (badly). It has noticeable play on both rear wheels at 3 and 9. I can move the wheel at least a couple millimeters (which isn't good at all). It appears the whole "knuckle" moves which leads me to think there is pin damage? I noticed the nuts are loosening on both sides and even with proper torque there is still significant play. I re-tourqed them a couple times, but they still loosen up - and now I see why.
I'm going to take things apart tonight or tomorrow and will see if there is permanent damage to the pins (to account for the play), and so I can prepare to send these into Carl for an update.
But I wanted to see if Carl's redesign seemed to fix things for people? Or should I just get rid of them altogether?

I wanted to post a brief epilogue to my issues here. As I mention in post 156 I had some significant play in each rear wheel hub. I could grab the wheel at 3 and 9 and move it a couple mm!
The pins were fine, although one was bound up and I destroyed it in the removal process. What I did find was that the LCA rubber bushings were bad. I'm not sure if Carls kit had anything to do with it or not, but I could see how perhaps it exacerbated the failure of these parts. In any event, new bushings, pins, cone washers, and nuts appear to have solved the issue. Now I just have to re-do the rear alignment which isn't too bad to do at home, and the Euro can be driven with confidence.

No. I did not. I'm fairly certain they were a contributor to the issue, and may never get re-installed. I may reach out to Carl to see if he will still honor his offer to revise them to the current design - otherwise they will go in the garbage.

Ok..this is not a vendor problem..but may have found another problem I have with MY CAR..so there..its NOT a vendor part problem. This is meant to help others.
I installed this kit:
http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...lerearsway.php
And..it installs pretty easily..but after install, man...I have this creaking and popping from the rear corners of my car. Especially the passenger rear corner.
Thought it was loose bearing pin nuts..would not go away.
Went to Bill Ball's yesterday to to Sharktuner learning (another thread of disappointment) and this creaking and popping we tackled next.
We found..that the end link/tie down kit, ties together the relationship in space, the pin center, and the LCA connection for the OEM end link location that the tie down plate attaches to.
But..that didnt seem right:
Movie here:

You can see that the LCA hole and plate dont meet when moving the car, and from the side..clearly so.
I think my Right Rear bearing pin is frozen...
When we pulled that bolt that goes into the OEM end link location, the car rose about 1/4", same on the left side...which is odd, because ive HAD the drivers rear pin in my hand, perfectly NOT frozen.
More when we tear this apart next weekend.
