Default After buying this kit..my rear end CRREEAAKKKS!

Ok..this is not a vendor problem..but may have found another problem I have with MY CAR..so there..its NOT a vendor part problem. This is meant to help others.

I installed this kit:

http://www.928motorsports.com/parts/...lerearsway.php

And..it installs pretty easily..but after install, man...I have this creaking and popping from the rear corners of my car. Especially the passenger rear corner.

Thought it was loose bearing pin nuts..would not go away.

Went to Bill Ball's yesterday to to Sharktuner learning (another thread of disappointment) and this creaking and popping we tackled next.

We found..that the end link/tie down kit, ties together the relationship in space, the pin center, and the LCA connection for the OEM end link location that the tie down plate attaches to.

But..that didnt seem right:

Movie here:
http://www.speedtoys.com/~gemohler/IMG_0641.MOV

You can see that the LCA hole and plate dont meet when moving the car, and from the side..clearly so.

I think my Right Rear bearing pin is frozen...

When we pulled that bolt that goes into the OEM end link location, the car rose about 1/4", same on the left side...which is odd, because ive HAD the drivers rear pin in my hand, perfectly NOT frozen.

More when we tear this apart next weekend.

Did you check the orientation of the shocks?

Its possible to get them around the wrong way (requires some forcing to reassemble that way, but its possible), which would place extra load on the pin and prevent rotation.

If you look in the WSM it has a diagram showing the correct orientation (the base holes angle slightly upwards in one direction.. I forget which).

Jeff, In your video, isn't there supposed to be a bolt in that left-most hole? To work, the plate needs to be fixed relative to the LCA and original swaybar mounting hole, correct?

The plate takes the place of the big washer, but I am thinking that the big washer is bolted tight to the pin, which is not fixed relative to the LCA-- there's a rubber bush between the pin and the LCA.

I must be missing something here.

Jim is correct, there is supposed to be a bolt in the left most hole, where the original drop link was bolted to.

i removed that to show how that WITH that bolt in, the suspension was locked, and was not able to move freely.

I pulled it to show that relationship IF as I believe, my pin is siezed.

Shock is in correctly.

I put the big washer that was behind the pin bolt, behind the plate, as there was a large space in there that was "washer sized" with the plate on.

The face of the bearing pin area is not level with the face of where the drop link used to bolt to..so I put the washer back there, to prevent bending the plate.

That's strange, I removed the original washer when I installed these, they mated up perfectly, no space behind the brackets and the LCA at either the pin or original drop link mount.

The pivot pin is only long enough for the stock washers, so installing the kit would require removing the large round washer under the rear lock nut, and replacing it with the kit's mount plate.

Are you saying you added the mount plate on top of the round washer? If there was enough space for the large round washer, then you have something else missing.

Yup..there was a perfect space..for the OEM round washer.

We'll pull apart next weekend.

Of course..with no instructions, I was just guessing how to do it all...and what MIGHT go where, etc.

Sway bar bushings are probably frozen. That would make a creaking noise due to the change of the angle of attack from the drop links bolted to the tie down / adjustment plate(s). This also changes the stress on the bushings.

Also would explain the car either "rising" or "falling" from the original height position when the links are bolted on vs when you remove them.
