Glenn,

That is the perfect drink there! I love to get a little Captain in me from time to time!

On the 928 front I ordered up a Magnaflow to replace my Spintech to make EURO85 a bit quieter, but in looking at the Maganflow the guys are the muffler shops said they doubted it would be quieter and might even be louder so we did not go to the trouble to put it on to find out. Damn it!

On a positive note that car (as usual) attracted ALL KINDS of positive attention! From a 3 year old boy who liked the red (as did his mother I might add) to a 15 year old hottie coming out of Chic-Fil-A to an old man in his 70's! Those are just the ones who said something!

Got everything back from powder coating and replating.
Everything is clean so it's time to put everything back together.

Adjusted my A/C belt - it sounded like broom slapping a metal shed when you first fired it up, then when it got warmer is stopped slipping.

Now quiet as a mouse on the first adjustment! The Shark is back in the water.....

Installed the new (rebuilt) valve body in my transmission, no more flare shifting.

Got started on Fuel Line replacement. I followed the 928SRUS instructions and disassembly was pretty straight forward with the exception of removing MAF. The 1989 S4 setup is a little different than the on-line docs so I will post detailed pics in the spirit of Dwayne's Garage when the job is done.

The upper hose clamp was inaccessible so I had to loosen the lower hose clamp. After some wrestling it came off. All lines that are to be replaced are now visible. Re-assembly is something I will sleep on tonight because anything that is hard to take apart is usually challenging to put back together.

I also have Roger's kit and instructions and was contemplating getting started tonight as well. But I'm looking to replace the fuel pump, filter, and in-tank pump too. Need to run another couple of gallons of fuel out of the car in the morning so I can do this tomorrow night.

Would love to come by and check out your progress tomorrow if you are going to continue working on it in the AM. I'll PM you my cell number if you would like some encouragement/company...

Everything between the front bumper cover, and rear wing that points "up" on the car was hit with:

Claybar
Rubbing compound (the lighter Meguiars stuff)
Polishing compound
Wax

Im fricken beat...even though it was all with a proper Porter Cable DA..

The differences are startling...4-5 shades of white whiter, and in some places in the first stage of work after the claybar, it looked like mud was coming up..a LOT of built up crap.

The new finish (minus the windscreen valence that the wipers pass thru, and under the wing, etc..where a DA cant reach well) is really fantastic.

It's this super white, thats a surface that feels and looks like polished stone now....lovin it.

Will take a great number of weekends to finish the whole car, then to decide what to do about nooks and crannies..

My headlight surrounds that were not done yet, look yellow in comparison.

Sold my 88. Sean and I finished MM/Pan gasket Wednesday and new owner picked up yesterday.

Had an oil leak from a loose cooler line on the Motorsports radiator. That was my last "repair" on it.

Sad to see it go, but sure new owner will enjoy it.

Took a ride on some back roads today and blew out some cobwebs. What a great car.

Found the source the tick-tick-tick-tick at slow roll and buzz at speed. A retention spring for the e-brake pad broke on my last outing so the pad was rubbing.

Took some time for a casual drive on Angeles Crest Highway this morning. It's been closed for a couple years after fire, and then washouts/slides after the fires. New road is nice new pavement, much better barriers and runoff control areas (both for water and for vehicles). Lots of tourists out and casual enforcement levels so no serious tire testing was included. Still a very nice tour after the access drought.

Default I did not have sexual relations with that Shark

Finished the fuel line replacement. Had some help from a nearby 928 owner which made the job more funner. Turns out our kids played soccer together 10+ years ago.

The line layout on the 1989 S4 was quite different from the 928sRUS instructions but we figured things out. The dremel cutting was the easiest part. MAF Re-installation was the most funner...hence the picture. No neighbors were around but my wife and kids are concerned.

Rear wheel bearings on the GT. This job's a bit of a PITA. I just have to wrap up a few loose ends tomorrow. Save yourself some time and skip the bearing separator and press when removing the bearing race form the hub. Ten minutes per side with a Dremel cut off disc and a chisel and the old races slide right off.
