Seat out. It goes backwards but not forwards. The seat back reclines and adjusts forwards. That’s about it right now. Most importantly I’d like the seat to move forward…

Update. After soldering the dry joints the seat squab moves up and down. Still won’t move forward. Can hear the relay clicking when the switch is pressed….

@Damocles03 : for my own learning, the dry joints are the ones that look like they have a donut around them? Did you just reflow the solder that was there, or add solder?

As long as you're in there, you might want to inspect all the little shims and washers on the physical movement cables, as they can also degrade a little bit. Typically this results in the seat rocking very slightly during acceleration and braking. Might not be an issue on your car, but since you have the seat out it might be worth a look.

ETA: Here's a link on the seat mechanical bit refreshing - https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ront-seat.html

Cheers

Thanks for the advice. Three soldered joints looked really bad when I opened up ghe unit and some others looked a bit flaky. Seemed sensible to resolder all the big pin joints. They were reflowed with a hot iron and I added solder with flux from a roll. I’m pleased with the results.

Just finished oil change and then a little spring cleaning for the GT getting ready for the driving season, wheels are off getting fresh new tires and should be back on the road this weekend.

Note those are original style Liftbars. The front orange tape is for aligning the bars with the door seam when rolling under the car, not jack stand placement. The stand should go as far forward as possible.

Thanks, Ken, I picked these up many years ago from another local Maine 928 owner, who had sold his 928 and obviously didn’t need these any more….learn something new every day! Thanks

Received the new battery grounding strap this morning. It replaced the skanky inadequate wiring and cut out switch. With a new battery the cut out isn’t needed. Space saver, jack and wheel wrench now are in their correct stowage.

Having done a full rebuild of my own 928 GT engine I know what a big and costly job this is to do right. So many little bits to replace in order to do it right, such as the tiny springs of the ball valves in the heads. And then there's the engine bay clean up while the engine is out, renewing power steering hoses and engine mounts, etc, while you're in there!

Maybe you could start a new rennlist thread for your engine rebuild and keep us all updated. Loads of people would be interested :-)

Broken odometer cog replacement, AT indicator bulb replacement and instrument illumination bulb/white paint refresh. All very fiddly but well worth doing. Plenty of patience and not rushing was essential but the biggest help was from the posts on this subject on Rennlist. 👍

Drove it . Took the GT up to one of our cars and coffee style events (Exotics at Redmond Town Center). Got placed in the center court area. Not bad for a "10 footer" 928. One of two 928's at the event. And it just rolled over 340,000 km (approx..211,000 miles)

Yesterday we drove 550 miles from London to Île de Ré, near La Rochelle on the west coast of France

My car is garaged in London, so it never suffers from sun damage, so I'm deploying defensive parking to the max while here, because the sun is quite oppressive

I've also bought a thing to help, which will need some customisation to fit properly because the slit is not long enough for the mirror mount on the 928, otherwise the Baseus shade isn't too bad
