Got a new key from dealer today. Held my breath that the locks were original as the keys are cut in Germany based on VIN.

Key was $89.41 but worked perfectly. Now that I'm back to having 2 keys I'll undoubtedly find the one I lost .

How the heck do you get stuff that clean? I tried on mine but got no where near that!

Good thing its not here or I would have to go and do some more cleaning.

Put her up, and to sleep, until the thaw.

Steered her around the biggest old man Koala I've seen, crossing the road last night.
He must have been 2 foot high, on all fours and high as a kite on eucalyptus.

Drove it to work and stretched it legs a little .
I also decided I am going to go a timing gun and an IR gun to see if I have any misfires as the power seems a little low and two cylinders seem a little lumpy. Also to adjust the ignition advance to get a little more oomf from the 4.5.
Other than that it is very smooth at 3000 RPM and with a little Italian valve cleaning thrown in the mix, it seems to really like it....

Applied Dynamat Extreme to the DS door panel. Used gloves so my hands didn't get cut. Was getting cold in the garage, so I'll finish up tomorrow.

Finally got the a/c to blow cold air! All I had to do after my extensive rebuild was to clean the pin in the 14 pin connector that goes to the clutch. ( in my case the wire that goes to the relay as I added a second one) and up the fuse to
the relay to 5 amps because the oil that was inside of the compressor was putting to much strain on the

clutch for the 2 amp fuse to handle. It's an 81 so there must be a glitch in the matrix

I start removing the intake to fix a leaking oil filler neck.
Maybe send the injectors for cleaning.

Exclamation Please Use Jack Stands!

Silver Car: took for a nice long drive yesterday.

Saw a red 928 leaving Bug Jam (VW Show) at same time as me today (but I was not in a 928).

De-lurking in this thread because I feel someone has to say something about the lack of evidence of jack stands in our brother Arnoud's picture.

Arnoud, if you are not already doing so, please use Jack Stands in addition to the Floor Jack you are using to lift the car. I have always heard that Floor Jacks are not reliable by themselves for supporting a car!

Note the two Jack Stands shown in gcthree's picture.

Carlos: very good that you draw attention to this , and I fully agree with always using Jack Stands in addition to the Floor Jack. As no Floor Jack can ever be trusted by itself, and NO car on this planet is worth dying for!

It is also my experience that many Floor Jacks slowly - bit by bit - drop down over time (as in: a few hours). All three (3) that I have do this, and it does not seem to relate to the purchase price: super cheap as in USD $25 and more mid-priced as in USD $300 have this "feature"...

In the original photo that I posted (being shrunk to 12% horizontal & vertical) it can not clearly seen where there are any Jack Stands, but there were indeed two (2) underneath the rear jack points.
It can be seen a bit better from this higher resolution photo, it is the blue "beam":

And here a photo of me yesterday flushing and bleeding the brakes, showing a better look on the 3-ton blue Jack Stands (these are aluminum ones, with not too large a base. Whenever I need to do job with the car higher up in the air I use Jack Stands with a very big wide large stable base):

Default drove it!

Weather was a bit chilly this morning, but sunny and looking to get to 50 degrees, so drove the GT to work ( about 45 miles one way). It really liked the cool dense air and ran great. Down to the last few days to drive it before Winter finally comes to Boston.
