Question Looking for a fanfare picture

My '88 (not '84 - typo) S4 has only one horn - so it can only go beep instead of having the dual high-low "fanfare" Porsche describes

Anyway, it appears that the end mounting hole in the bracket is fractured and the whole second horn assembly is therefore missing. The remaining horn support seems to be twisted but is still mounted. Most likely this is impact damage.

Does anyone have a picture handy of the original instalation. Thanks.

Pics for you. Dirty is pre-disassembly, clean is today. Note, mine was also hit in this corner sometime in the past.

Thanks BigAl1. Unfortunatley it looks like the horns for the '80 are very different to those of the '88 - compare 80 to 88.

This is what mine currently looks like:

and

You can see the broken end of the bracket and the hanging wiring connectors for the second, missing horn (and the broken support tab to the left),

Does anyone have a picture of my horn style please?

My two and a half year old son just looked over my shoulder, pointed to the first picture and said "car is broken".

Little kids are very observant, or at least this one is!

Martin, look on this page, there is a picture:

The horns are a bit different, the one you have is the correct model, just need one more, the low or high picthed one. Don't get too excited about the "fanfare" it's just two horns and a rather disappointing sound.

Thanks Leon. Just what I wanted. The remaining horn bracket is twisted then and the other horn did bolt to the end where I seem to have a broken hole.

Well you have the mounting pylon that bolts to the frame rail - good. I agree the stock horn "fanfare" is rather weak - I'd recommend NOT getting the other stock horn and instead get a pair of Hella Supertone horns - louder (118 dB) similar in size & mounting - much better result - not that expensive ~$60). Electrically both connect to the exact same horn feed wires in parallel. Do get rubber boots for the connectors (like stock) it gets wet in there..

Thanks Alan. I'll look into those. I will have to make a new hole in the pylon - easy to do of course.
