It's easy to hit someone when he's already down, especially when you have nothing worthwhile to contribute.

Well put, Paul.

Reminds me of these Holier-than-thou IMF protesters that we see here in DC every few years. So much to say about social/moral behavior, & so little to contribute.

Well said, and far better done than my posts, which is why I removed them.

Well you have to let the admiral part slide because it was the FLAGSHIP and we all could be considered admirals if not skippers........................

A few tips for those lowly "users" here...

First rule...remember that you are a "user"
"users" are allowed their opinions; however, we "members" recommend you keep them to yourself
"users" shall never ever criticize or post critical comment on a "member"
If a "user" has a question...don't post it....search the FAQ..
If a "user" has a question...don't post it.... pay for membership
"users" shall only speak when spoken to by a "member"
If a "user" thinks he can add something constructive to a thread...remember that you are a "user" and that you have nothing constructive to add.
Post count is your key to evolution..the more posts..the more evolved you are...and thereby more revered by others with lower post counts..

Keep this in mind and your stay here will be much more enjoyable...

and finally...keep in mind that a simple payment to become a "member" will take you to a higher plain of existence, and you too...can enter and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Porsche "member" owners.

That's all I can remember..it's been a long time since I've ascended into "membership".. feel free to add on (if you are a member that is) :-)

It also helps if you start here:

"What is a Porsche 928? It's driving farther and farther down your favorite twisty road for the sheer exhilaration of driving. It's braking for a corner you always brake for and then asking yourself afterward: Why did I slow down? It's a V-8 engine with the sort of tach-twisting throttle response rarely experienced in these days of low emissions, low compression and low performance. It's using wide-open throttle for no other reason than to surround yourself with the mellow guttural roar of a fuel-injected, 4.5-liter, single-overhead cam V-8. It's the smooth surge of power that can result in blaring sirens and flashing red lights unless you watch the speedometer (and rear-view mirror) closely."

I guess I have been playing by the rules pretty well then. I've been a "user" for a long time and rarely post. I come here to read, not interact. Becoming a "user" allowed me to view attachments, otherwise, I probably wouldn't have bothered with that. I don't hold a Rennlist "member" in any higher regard as a 928 owner just because they are a "member" and like to talk a lot. I own 3 of these vehicles and have had one since '92. I think I know the 928 pretty well. I come here to read what posters like GB and Stan (MrMerlin) have to contribute. You never know what you might learn. As an example, there's no telling how much time Bill Ball saved me the first time I did the rear main seal. Had I not followed his write-up step-by-step, it easily would've taken me twice as long to do. Also, I will be doing head gaskets on an '84 soon. GB's recent contributions about doing head gaskets on cars that use studs as factory hardware will be invaluable to me when I do the same job soon.

There's a lot of BS to comb through. Every now and then, there is actually something here worth reading.

Fact of life, people are going to look at what you have to say in a different light if you have ten thousand posts and have been a member since 01 and have been to many of the gatherings than if you have been a user since 09 and have 50 posts.

It is the way it is, it is human nature.

This does not mean that a new user does not have any thing good to add, that is just not so, we all started sometime.

edit, my post was not directed at A. Embry, I did not see his post before writing mine.

Hopefully all will realize my post is made with tongue planted firmly in cheek

Contrary to most..I think those with the most knowledge here actually have lower post counts...(their wisdom comes across in few words/posts ). Most of the brightest 928er's aren't even on here much at all .

Very true, look at the low post count of folks like Greg Brown, has Todd ever posted here?

Yes, I did understand it was humor, but there is a seed of truth to it.
