+1, however once a car is sold and the buyer pays seller for said car the seller has no other obligation to buyer. No warranty, grace period, buyers remorse, take back, make it right, etc... and NO

You're not the only one who is disapointed; although, for different reasons I suspect. i would hope that people wouldn't rush to judgement, based on a single post, when a long time member is at the receiving end of the criticism.

This kind of stuff that needs doing is common 928 stuff, and should have been taken care of before the car left the seller, if he wants to advertise it that way.

Sad. Maybe more sad is that someone traded on their rep in RL to take advantage. I don't know the seller or buyer, but my opinion of everyone on here just took a few ****** in the armor that is RL 928 forum.

Resto-mod, formerly aspirated?

I tend to think of a car as badly bought if I later find out that :

It's been in a major accident and is bent like a banana, or :

The engine has a blown head gasket and needs a $10,000 rebuild.

This is clearly a very nice example. I have never bought a used car without noticing some imperfections that the PO has not, or has become used to.

So the big question is, what's the difference in value between what you bought and what you thought you were buying? $500 to fix the PS leak and then some time and patience to fix the little issues? Please remember that this is a 25 year old Porsche supercar.

I just spent $6K on my 89, and have since spent $7K on it. It could still use a $10,000 respray.

Now the Carfax report is embedded into the Ebay ad. If you had read it, you would have seen that it had an owner from 87 to 91, then another from 91 to 2004, then the seller. So the seller bought it from a guy who had it for 13 years, but was not the original owner. Took me 10s to figure that out, and I'm not bidding on a $19,000 car.

Get a sense of proportion, move on.

The ad seems to state that the AirCon works perfectly, rather than the HVAC. But I guess you're right, the car isn't exactly as described.

Nevertheless this does not bode well, because when something important really does go wrong, it sounds like you will be completely lost.

I agree you wtih...you put up a 928 for sale and with selling points...then you the buyer are paying for those selling points to meet those expectations.

I hope you and seller get together and work out those expectations. 19k is a lot of money. There are certain expectations when you buy a 19k 928 car.

You overpaid and the seller misrepresented the car in the auction,

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_500wt_1182

Kevin how about giving the current owner the contact name of the buyer willing to pay $23k?? If he would still pay $19k it might work out well for everyone.

Looks like you know the car if you say he overpaid, so tell us more.

Some of you who are just reading this for the first time, might be better served to go back and read this thread's dialogue all the way through before spouting off your short-sighted ill-conceived drivel.

Would it hurt some of you to be a bit more thoughtful about what you say?

You words read troll to me, so be productive or keep you effing mouths shut.

Kevin - I've been down that road too before. Hang in there brother. This will pass.
And hopefully to make you smile some, the paint job and body work look great on it and your rep would take a hellava lot more than this to take a serious hit.

The seller doesn't get off completely scot-free.

1) He said the odometer reads 134.8, it reads 138.8. However he also says the mileage is 55K in the ad. He also neglects to mention that the odometer has stopped working.

2) He said he bought it off the original owner, he did not.

3) He said everything works, not everything works.

4) He says it is issue free, it is not.

5) He says it has no leaks, it has a leak.

These facts may not materially affect the value of the car but at best the seller is guilty of being economical with the truth.

So, ad said everything work properly and is issue free.

Should have said; 'Everything working when parked x months ago. Not tested recently.'

You should read the Ebay ad

YES Kevin is having a difficult time and I wish him all of the best BUT that does not prevent him from trying to help the buyer.

If the other guy would have paid $23k and the current owner is not happy why not try and put them together?
