Sent my Paypal payment today. And I will take the whole kit with the modules. Can you make anything for my 951 with the switches on the doors?

I didn't read every post. Doe's this fit as a cover?
Doe's the panel have it's own electronics with microswitches?

Anyway, it ought to be so much easier to keep clean. Reminds me of a flat top stove than the usual burners.

Heck of a job.

i think the eject button should be hooked to 2 jets on either side of the passenger seat that are connected to a nos bottle. would scare the sheet off a few that might want a ride. ha ha ha

Mike,

this switch panel will replace all the factory window/sunroof switches. The panel itself will fit in the exact same area, and will do so whether you have a leather covered center console or a vinyl console. There is no modification to be done on the console itself.

The switches we use have no moving parts and are sealed inside the panel, so they are the last switches you will need to buy for the windows.

The switches are low current and the panel has it's own electronic board that interfaces with either the factory controller on the '90+ cars (this still as to be verified) or with DEI modules for the earlier cars.

The switch panel is lighted by a laminated fiber optic matrix driven by a single high focus LED.

Paul,

The factory window switches are wired differently for 1990+ cars, thus different part numbers.

Does this kit come with the factory connectors for a plug and play install? Or do you need to cannibalize the switch wiring?

Borland,

Wiring/switches does change at the 90 model year, but the same panel works across models. No cannibalization is required, unless you really want to use the factory connectors. I am crimping female quick-connects on the end of the harness, and they will plug into the chassis-side connectors. They will not have the friction-lock that the factory connectors have, so in the instructions, we are going to ask users wrap the connection with a bit of electrical tape to secure.

If someone could find the part number for the connectors, I would gladly use them. I suspect they are Amphenol or Tyco connector, but havent been able to find them yet.

The only un-tested function at this point in time is the direct compatibility of the new switch panel with the factory 90+ window controller. After reviewing the schematics and operation, it seems extremely likely that no additional modules will be required for these cars. 89 and older models do require the use of DEI window automation modules. The modules can be installed in the 90+ models for additional functionality, but will require modifications to the factory wiring layout.

Thanks
Hans

You might find all the connector housings and terminals in the electrical section of the 944 PET. Even from Porsche, these small parts are extremely low cost. Lead time from Germany may be a problem however.

Looks like: window switch connector housing: Porsche p/n 803.905.897

Thanks, I will look into that on monday to see what pricing/availability is. The current solution does work (have tested it on my car), but its not as elegant as having the connector. I did order red, green, black, and brown colored wire for the harness, to match the stock wiring colors making install even more strait-forward. You can double check the connection against the stock switches you remove.
