Take your data and strap a turbo on the side of that bike with a smaller cog in the rear and a longer swing-arm.

This combination is so rare I saw one the other day at the local farm supply store.

Please for the love of all things holy and 928, take it OT.

A bit off-topic, lets not turn this into a Hyabusa discussion. Thanks.

Shouldn't the header heat shields be elevated and not strapped directly to the pipe? All the heatshields I've seen had an air gap between the exhaust and whatever they were protecting. If they are strapped directly to the pipe, wouldn't that make them non or barely functional?

Also, looks like the starter blanket is held on by a nylon zip tie, might not be a bad idea to replace it with something made of metal.

Yes, in an ideal world, I agree with you. In this case, there is no room for a spacer between pipe and heat shield and blanket. We kept the contact between heat shield and header to a minimum, and preferred air space bewteen heat shield and the nylon instead.

We ran a race in July with this setup and it was 106 deg F trackside, the asphalt temp was 130 degrees.
We didn't have a problem.

Pictures from today. The car is finished, all that remains is to wash it and put it into the trailer. I will get better pictures of it tomorrow once it gets outside.

We scaled the car, and it is now 4,634 pounds in total with driver, with a 54/46% weight bias toward the rear. Oddly enough, it STILL weighs less than a 2010-11 Dodge Challenger. :-)

We figured out how to load and unload the car today - no small feat when the front is only 30mm off the deck and the back is only 65mm up.

It starts by removing the Bonneville front tires and substituting stock 928 tires and wheels, that gives us 1" more height.

Then many ramps of various thicknesses to slowly raise the car at a fairly constant level attitude.

We are all loaded up to show at the PCA event this Saturday at Road America. See you there!

Good luck at Bonneville. Bill and I will be down the road in Ely, Nv for the Silver State Classic ORR
Sept 15-18th. To bad the schedules overlap.

Yesterday we took the car to Road America to get our 2011 sponsors' photos taken. The best ones are posted below.

This is the car in full land-speed trim, just as it will be raced later this month.

It is all loaded up and ready to go. All we are doing now is packing groceries and spare parts. We leave for Bonneville on Sept 12th. All I wish for is good weather. Everything else will take care of itself.

That carbon fiber dash was made commercially some 6 or more years ago. The guy that made them went OOB, they didn't sell then and I don't think they would sell now.

Wishing you nothing but the best. Great pictures-Great car. Working on my schedule to see if I can get there to watch (or help).

One question, though. Why are the cage bars on the drivers side not sitting IN the door, which IMHO would give more protection, especially in a road course racing environment?

I agree and will have my next cage made that way. At the time that this cage was made, the inner door aluminum was still in place (the door was striped, but the flat aluminum inner door panel was still there) so I bet that's why the cage builder did it this way. Later, we cut out the inner door panels as you see them now.

Actually, it works out, as Bonneville required I install a full door net (not just a window net) and the current location of the tubing made that work very well.

But I agree - if they were further away from the driver's seat they would provide more protection in a lateral impact.

One challenge we have always had is trying to please every sanctioning body. I have had to build to safety spec for SCCA, PCA, Midwest Council, Pikes Peak, and now Bonneville - each with their own and sometimes conflicting requirements. Its always a challenge.
