Finished the engine belly pans and mid-belly pans last night. Here is a picture looking under the car from the front and from the back. The mid-belly pans come down one more time this Saturday when we pour the lead into them. The pans are compartmentalized to hold the lead where we want it until it cools.
Right now we are still on target to have the finished car at Road America next Saturday 9/3/2011 to show.
More pictures of the build and update are available on our facebook site here:

looks awesome. cant wait to see the thing out there running 240mph!
why all the weight. i know a little might be good for stability, but you do too much and that rolling friction might/will be a problem. do you have a spec weight to reach , or are you just trying to make sure you dont get airborne? what are others that have broken the records weigh?

they are organized by car number. i was able to memorize the ferarri number #7007 and looked up his performances. WOW, ony 171mph on day one and 150mph on day two? all the way out there to go that slow. heck , we can go out to hyway 5 and run that fast any time we want!

The salt is not smooth nor very solid has lots of loose bits on top so it IS MUCH EASIER to run on I-5. The weight helps with the traction just as throwing sandbags in the trunk helps on snow.
They are an eccentric bunch of racers and much creative engineering is encouraged....and they have a class for just about ANYTHING you can imagine and more.
Much of the draw is the need for a recognized timing run for it to be an official speed record which is why Porsche ran there. You cannot set an official record on I-5 no matter what the CHPs radar gun says
