Funny Carl Since some of us know who "wrote the article " .....Yes the very same Greg Brown. And as stated no one has anything like the inventory of used parts that Mark has no one even comes close ! Plus I have seen him throw away more parts that anyone could imagine because they were not good enough to sell.

I hear there is a guy working on a radiator that should work well in your car Greg. It has an oil cooler too.
Are you going to do anything to the transmission?

Awesome Greg I am trying to make my 4.5L as robust as possible before I eventually add some boost. I have done exhaust and cam's and she has stock heads which is my next project. Looking for info for sure!
Also would love to know more about this cooler, what type, cost, etc! Also looking into tranny options. I will have to find the thread or post but it was in regards to putting 79 gears in a 83 tranny w. 2.75. Something along those lines. I liked the idea for the street. I think Jim Bailey was involved w/ this.
I will be following closely as well as the rest of the 16v guy's.
Thank's!

I'm working on getting pictures of this particular vehicle/issues.
Here's my list of things that I think need to be looked at (drivetrain only, at this point) to make sure an early car is reliable...actually might be true for any car. Read it over and let's add things I've missed. This list is for a manual transmission car. I'm basically starting from the rear and moving forward.
Some things will be less important on low mileage cars.

Fuel level sender. Check for leaks.
Rear axles/axle boots
Rear wheel bearings
Rear brakes
Rear brake hoses
Emergency brake cables
Emergency brake shoes
Rear tires/wheels
Rear shock condition
Rear suspension bushings
Rear sway bar bushings
Transmission condition. (Change gear oil minimum.)
Check tightness of rear torque tube coupler. (Visually check 5th gear for cracks/damage.)
Rear gearshift coupler
