Having the car up means that the critical doors and lowers will be high enough to see the paint flowing as you spray. Too many DIY jobs are plagued with dry lower sections or runs in the doors where the painter couldn't see well enough down close to the floor.

Keep up the great work and the pictures.

Almost there. Body is 95% ready and I still need to tape the wheel wells. The olive green is etching primer I added where I sanded through to steel. I STILL have about 6 small sand through areas I need to fix. I am sure if the weather holds that this time monday...it will be painted!

Dean, Your passenger door fits very nicely, but you driver's door is slightly off. It needs a very thin shim between the upper hinge and the hinge pocket. I have made some of these shims for another lister in the past and will send you a couple for fitting purposes if you want. PM me your address and I will send you a couple to try to lift the back of that door a tiny bit to be perfect. Jerry Feather

Jerry,

I think it might be a trick of the paint from the jamb painting... Look at the leading edge of the door. That looks pretty damn good to me... though, you are the pro, so my eye is not as attuned to these things as yours, but I certainly can't detect anything from that clean leading edge.

Dean, great work...I just can't wait to see this thing done and I REALLY, REALLY hope I get to see it in person at some point...

Impressive!! ... I've been following this thread and I admire you're dedication to getting the job done right under less than prefect conditions. Kudos to you for your determination and perseverance ... you haven't let anything beat you .. your son is lucky to have a dad like you Can't wait to see the finished job.

I'm no pro, but for me the tell tail indication is how close the gap is at the rear of the bottom of the door, and then when you look around the rest of it you can see the tiny bit of difference in the other gaps.

I think Jerry may be correct, but without the latch installed the door may not be completly closed and flush. YMMV

I was thinking exactly what Jim posted when I read your post Jerry. Could also be that the hinges have not been tightened down yet too...

If you are going to paint te whole car at once for optimal colour quality, why aren't you respraying the roof to make sure everything will look te same. Different temp and humitity can change a colours appearance a little.

cant wait to see this one in green,

verry nice work! great color!

be carefull using the cheap magazine paper , they suck up paint and stick on the car if they touch , and they also leave small gaps possible that blow open when u spray.unless u use a lot of tape to close the gaps.
better to use brown paper in one piece,

Dean,

What a spectacular photodocumentary. I've been watching your progress. Very cool project. I'd love to do one like it someday. Can't wait to see the final results.

Took about 4 coats of color to cover the different primer colors..NOTE..USE SAME COLOR PRIMER on all final panels or you may have to use too much paint like me.

I have several runs in the clear as well as my light was failing. Those will sand out.

I may take more pics tomorrow in better light.
