LOL, that is super quick for a Lemons car (not too surprising with Dean wheeling it) but how do you know it's a, ahem, "Lemons Record" since Lemons has never run the full track at THill? Anyways, very cool effort!

See you there - look for the Italian Stallions Fiat X19 filling up your rear view

true, i guess we mean that its faster than any other lemon car we know that has tested full T hill. what ever its fast.

so the estate design isnt for winning any awards in areodynamic design, but in lemons it will be a hit and thats what counts. its probably will add drag over stock but thats fine. its just to look cool thats all, the car can hit about 110 at the end of the straight when i drove , the hot driver Dean was a bit faster though. so its a bit slower than my prediction but we also found the new muffler that i had installed is actually a rather big restriction and over muffles the nosie so its coming off, full before and after dyno results to follow.

overall we are quite happy and amazed at what it does on track. for a car with unknown history that has sat undriven and probably unstarted for 3 years and was quickly serviced and thrown into race conditions its working well. unfortunatley our race brake pads did not show up even for test day # 2, so brain used up what was left of the who knows what compund stock pads today.

the way I see it is until a legit Lemons car in Lemons trim beats that time going over the top at Thunderhill....its the best time...... for some reason I think the best time "dean" durned that day WAS in the 928...not the volvo????

cage looks good. i like the side bars, ill make my cage like that this time around. you dont need that many bars back in the rear on a 928, its chassis is a tank!

no drag????? tons of drag with it open like that. hey, you are going for looks not effect, right?

2:14?? thats pretty quick for street tires and a slush box. sounds about right, if i was able to run that 2:16 with that stock gutted Rx7 on 185 size tires and about 100hp.

I always thought a good driver could to 2:15 or slightly better...Dean thinks 2:12 is possible....heres his 2:14 run http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qptfVecjKwc

Heres my best at 2:19.83

I am confident that if the need arises to push for fast times....we can, especially with either Mark behind the wheel....however we will be cruising easy on the car for the whole 1st day to "save" the car and extend gas mileage...the 23 gallon tank is an advantage in Lemons racing!!!! I hope we can stay out 2 hours between stops

thanks mark

yeah i built it to our minumum specs in the rear, its actually a 7 popnt cage. there is foot protection on the driver side, no need on the passenger and i didnt want to relocate the computer, it also has a roof bar in the center, in all the cage weighs about 140lbs

I'm working on better wheels tires...but its hard to argue with the Dunlops at $112 per tire..... all the 17-18" wider tires are $200-300 per tire....

Maybe for the next race in March at Infineon....

You know that old saying, don't take a car on the track that you couldn't afford to burn to the ground and walk away from? Well, at LeMons, there's a reasonable chance that might actually happen! It's just part of the circus.

BTW, wanted to chime in to say that this 928 is totally bad-***. Totally legit at $250 and, even gutted, there's still enough Stuttgart in it to make it an absolute blast to drive. That 2:14 was tire and brake limited - with better brakes and tires, there easily a 2:12 in it. But what's more important is that just left in 3rd gear, the car should easily do low 20's all day long. As long as the Members Only crew doesn't abuse the tranny with lots of shifting and by spinning up that inside tire AND with a heathly dose of luck, I think they are going to be real contenders in addition to clear crowd favorites!

Cheers,

Dean

Since all this talk about the aerodynamics of the rear, what about those holes in the front? Can you tape it up with some red duct tape? It costs next to zero and besides making the car look a little better it actually adds performance.

Do you guys have a plan to address the brakes? I would throw some good race pads on it for sure.

I do have a concerns about exhaust fumes coming back into the cockpit seeing as the back is wide open.
