This is an '89 GT! To some people, including myself, this is the epitomy of the 928 driving experience.

I've always wanted one to drive and keep for a long time. Not to sit in the garage with the original paperwork, increasing in "theoretical" value.

This could be a good opportunity for a driver GT. Better than going to the parts bin. There's plenty of other "too far gone" 928s to handle this duty.
Nicely put, I would put the GTO outside for a 928 GT with no tranny.

I would ask $2500 firm (fair profit still a good deal for someone)

I'd check into it if I were you- so I vote to keep it together rather part it out...

Steve
His was a 90 PSD box, not the 89 GT box

Well, Whole, really.

But to be practical, the "89GT"ness of the car is pretty much not there. The shocks and springs would be the first to be replaced, and you can get a non-GT trans and still have 2.73. Is the TT there? To me, if the interior was nice, it would be a quick, cheap, platform for another engine and trans to put in a drive (if the electrics are all there).

I'm thinking put whatever I can in there until I can some day have Doc Brown build me a stroker....

The latest moving quote is $870 from PA to SoCal...

Wait... While typing a $810 quote came in....

How much do you want for it Kevin?

Kevin, I know you've got a *lot* invested in the rocket, which means strong emotional ties too at this point.

My view is that perfect low miles interiors are hard to find, and you have most of the engine including the cams. Some 3R or 4R heads (yep, I'd include GTS heads as candidates) and a transmission and you're close to good to go.

Have you driven a car with the digital dash? I have an 87 and an 89 and I hugely prefer the amount of information the digital dash makes available (including the diagnostics).

Congrats on the score - nice win for a proper 928 owner

Thanks Hilton, good advice for sure. At this point I don't have the heart to part it. I will accept a trade of any kind as well as I will sell it outright . I know I need to post a price so I hope this makes sense. I will take anything between $1.00 and 6k. Maybe someone has the will to part it and if they do, there is at least 10k in parts to sell and they are all in very good cond.

I could offer an '88 S4 parts car and the promise to restore the car (after a confirmation viewing to be sure). I have the GT transmission already.

Kevin,
What you gave for the car....( everyone knows ) has nothing to do with what you want for the car. Its not WRONG...You were in the right place at the right time. Just like buying and selling stocks. If someone has a problem with you making a GOOD profit ...then so be it. Hope they get over it.

Do you have pics of the interior???? I may be interested in it myself. And I DON'T mind you making a good bit of money on the deal ! An 89 GT is my dream 928...even more so than a GTS.

Dean,
Thanks for that! That was something I really needed to hear as I was feeling a bit awkward selling it here.
