Find a 3R head and put it back together. The interior's good, and if the paint's good (and original), the rest is reassembly work. How many low mile '89GT's are left?

If you can find only a bare head, I have a set of ultrasonic cleaned and polished lifters from a '91 GT that I'll donate.

I hate that 'taking the highest offer' bs. At least he came around.
If you have a little room, and don't need an immediate turnaround on the $1k investment, I'd say bring her back....especially because it sounds like too nice a car to part.
Are those Club Sports (looks like a front on the p/s rear)?

Hard part will be finding a replacement transmission for a GT, but plenty of higher hurdles have been no issue for others. While your waiting to find one you could always run an AT.

If I had a nice GT in my hands, I don't really see myself letting it go for any reason.

JP. The wheels are the correct 9's and 8's with the 60mm, he just had them put on wrong. I've had a lot of offers for them though for sure!

I thought I saw that you said it had a head missing. I'd still replace it with my UBER 89S4 (GT like) motor, and use this car as a turbo platform. In this hypothetical world where I would ship a non-runner across the entire country.

Another reason to keep it in tact.

Gary Knox was just by here dropping his GTS off (supernice!!!). We were checking out the GT and he thinks it is worth saving also. Damn, I've had parts requests the last 5 days totalling over 6 grand....so I am torn! Somebody should buy this thing before I send the wrenches out on it, then I don't feel the guilt.

Sell The rocket2 for some nice bucks, be 928less for a short period of time, and throw about 1/3 of the rockets proceeds at the GT. Wave your magical wand over the GT and you'll have a 928gt for the ages.

You would not be "saving" this one Kevin (says the '89GT-owning vulture looking for parts)... it's long gone already. Salvage title, incorrect transmission... it'll never be an '89 GT again - not one that will command a premium on the market, anyway.

Some must die so that others may live on...

Stan Shaw posted in an earlier thread that he has a GT trans- he didn't list a price, but it probably would be worthwhile to ask- the car is worth saving, and may bring a lot more than the trans would cost...
I also seem to recall that Sterling may have a GT trans- he wanted to swap out for a 2.20 box...
I'd check into it if I were you- so I vote to keep it together rather part it out...

Steve
