Mercedes beat them to it already almost two years ago. I don't have much faith in Porsche when it comes to front engine GT cars anymore.

Talking my wife into one within the next 4 years.

Is the 928 really a Coupe? Are hatchbacks Coupes?

100% agree. This is what the 928 could have become. Not sure if Mercedes is selling enough of these for Porsche to feel the need to compete with a 928 reboot. But that would be sweet.

And I too hope these depreciate like 500 series Mercs. I'd pay $40K all day long ten years from now for one of these!

My money is either on a crippled Macan or a competitor to the S-Class coupe.

Yes me too! $40K AMG GTS' please!

I have a problem with Porsche that has stemmed since the introduction of the 997 and Cayenne. There is a bureaucracy that has grown in Porsche that has become very pro-911. Of course, we have the Boxster, Cayman and SUVs that would speak otherwise, but with so many competitors in the GT-class cars to compete against, why hasn't Porsche stepped up to the plate? Is it because they fear a GT car would be faster than their prized 911 Turbo?

We have Aston Martin Vanquishes, DB9s, DB11s.....we have Ferrari Californias with party whistles mated to those glorious V8s, Maserati Gran Turismos, don't get me started on the mighty C7 Corvettes, and we have Mercedes carrying on a legacy that the 928 started back in 1977. Porsche needs to wake up and aim for supremacy once again in this class of automobile.

I will throw my hat in the ring for Porsche if they reboot, but Mercedes and Aston have some beautiful GT Cars that have my attention for now.

Please God, if it's going to be associated with the 928, let it have cool headlights, a wide *** and a 0-60 under 4 seconds.

It will have the nose of the Panamera, no doubt it will be fast. With optional diesel or hybrid powerplands, AWD, sharing a platform and most parts with other cars (possibly even an Audi).....

You know, everything the 928 isn't.

It will weigh 4200 lbs or more, be 5 feet tall, with big slab sides and tiny side windows.

Pardon me, but... Is the word "coupe" used anywhere in the official announcement? I see it in the thread title but not in what is showing in the thread here. FB is a virus I can't afford to have on my system. Anybody see them mention "coupe" except possibly in reference to the 928?

Hearsay. Enough said.

I think the 928 is dead still. Long live the 928.

My salesman (I just ordered a Macan!) told me that it's happening, a two-door Panamera. FWIW. But like the 928, I'll have to wait about 30 years.

All the early cars have them painted body color. Standard for 78 and 79. Not sure when it stopped.

So the way I figure around quarter past midnight, we should be able to see what the new coupe looks like. They're 9 hours ahead of us here in the Pacific Time Zone.

Me thinks I'd better be half assed drunk, so the pain will be tolerable.
