Default * Holbert Car, The Journey Begins *AWESOME UPDATE*

Well Sharktoberfest is over and Mark Kibort has swapped all his needed parts on to his new race car,so now the Holbert car can begin it's trek east towards it's re-birth.I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions and offerings and from them have been able to make a plan to get the car from California to Connecticut. Dwayne H. has offered to help me in trailering the car the full distance on his vacation. We came up with a schedule and a route and we would like to make it available to the 928 community so that we could coordinate stopping spots to meet up with other enthusiasts to take some pictures and document the trip, which we all know Dwayne is very good at documenting 928 procedures, and give those interested in seeing the car an opportunity to.Besides,he is going to have to stop at least twice anyway The schedule at the moment is:

Leave 928 Intl. @ 11am November 7
Take I-10 from CA to I-20 TX
Take I-20 to I-30 at Dallas/Fort Worth
Take I-30 to I-40 at Little Rock,AR
Take I-40 to I-81 near Knoxville,TN
Take I-81 to I-84 at Scranton,PA
Take I-84 to Danbury, CT

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas we would like to hear them. This is a community event and we want everyone who is interested to participate.

I would also like to thank Mark Anderson of 928 International for working on the car and facilitating our schedule!
So who's in?

P.S. Dwayne,I can't get the linky to the Google Map to stick!

Edit: A very BIG THANK YOU to Dwayne for volunteering his personal vacation time and efforts in helping pull it all together.

Ed I would love to offer up some help, I'm a good wrench as long as I have instructions. I can also help out with getting the interior cleaned up and back together.

Question...do you happen to have a heated garage, can'ts stand wrenching in the cold.

PM me when you get the car and you're ready to get started.

Ed/Dwayne,

I am about an hour or less off of I-81 between Johnson City, TN and Bristol, TN/VA. If Dwayne needs anything I can meet him somewhere in that area. Also Dwayne, you are more than welcome to spend the night here or take a rest break on the way through.

Best wishes for this effort.

Seeing this car restored to its Bonneville state will be a tremendous contribution to the 928 community.

I am right off I-40 at Jackson, TN. Between Memphis and Nashville. I would be very happy to help with anything you might need as you are passing thru this area. Full access to machine and welding shop, should you need it.

He's already bought two gems out of Virginia. Forces will soon be aligned again.

Let us know the date and we will get a group of DFW 928's together to escort you into Texas.
Make sure you stay overnight in DFW and I promise some excellent 928 Texas hospitality.

Wow, go Dwayne!

Congratulations Ed on getting this all coordinated to this point! Restoring the Holbert /Kibort car is a valuble thing to do for the 928 community. Not many 928s have this kind of history and recognition.

Thank you!
