Doesn't look like you will be coming through Ohio.

I think it was the stuff that is carmel in color, is a little bubbly, and contains aspartame.

Default Draft Itinerary for Holbert Transport CA to CT

Hello all,
I am pleased to present (below) the draft itinerary for the trip cross country with the Holbert car. I tried to time the arrivals at or near major cities during daylight hours so we could take advantage of photo ops. There are 6 photo op potential stops: Phoenix, Dallas, Memphis, Nashville, Verona (VA near Richmond), and Hazleton (PA).

I alloted up to 1.5 hours for each of these stops - except for Dallas because I'll probably stay the night there. Although I don't have to stop at all six points, I wanted to offer them up as potential opportunities if there are some that would like to have a small get together, see the car, take pictures (before Ed's historic reconstruction), talk about our sharks, etc. Times listed below are estimated and may be affected by things beyond my control but it's a good place to start. Let me know if there is interest in a meet and greet at any of these locations or if there are any recommendations for alternate stops that are along this route. I do need to hold to delivering the Holbert NLT first thing Wed morning (11/11) so I can begin my trip home before noon that day. Lots of driving to do with an important piece of Porsche 928 history - I'm looking forward to it!!

That's awesome Dwayne!

I'll see if I can 'round up the boys to meet you on the 7th. I'm sure we can find a good meeting place close to the freeway where you can get some GOOD Mexican food to help keep you going all the way to Las Cruces! (in a manner of speaking... ).

All right Alan, Rich, Chuck, Drew, and the rest of the AZ gang, let's set up a quick get together for Dwayne and the record breaking 928. Maybe we can get Dan and Yolanda to stop by too.

Dwayne, we can do a late lunch or early dinner if that works for you. Let me know!

Default Verona on November 10th?

Cool! Is it possible for a meet in Verona on November 10th?

Ed, I'd love to do work on the Holbert car. Please keep me in mind if you need someone to do any of the small jobs. I can clean and prep with the best of them.
Great idea, Mike! I should arrive in Hazleton, PA around 3:00 PM on the 10th so this could work - we could get a couple hours of daylight driving/escorting in - it would make a great photo op, too. Let me know if you would like to set something up.

Make sure you stay overnight in DFW and I promise some excellent 928 Texas hospitality.
Hi Roger,
I will be coming into TX the morning of Sunday, Nov 8th. Unfortunately, this conflicts with the 3rd Coast event going on that weekend. However, I should arrive in Dallas around 4:00pm and might be able to catch the tail end of 3rd Coast - depending on what time it ends - just a thought. In any case, I'm open to ideas and I plan to stay over in Dallas - somewhere. THANKS for offering up some excellent Texas hospitality!

Sounds great, Rick. I'm planning on a 1.5 hour stop in Phoenix so if we can fit in a photo op and quick dinner - I'm in! If I stop for a little more than 1.5 hours, that's OK too. THANKS for the offer!

That's a Tuesday afternoon so I'll have to see what I can do. I'll check with the locals and see if there's any interest.

OK Dwayne, have the gang set up to meet with you and the Holbert car next Saturday, Nov. 7th. I'll PM you with the particulars, but it's at a great Mexican food restaurant less than 1/2 mile off of I-10. It's on the way out of Phoenix, so you'll already be through most of town and be able to be easily on your way to Las Cruces... unless you just have too much fun with us and want to stay overnight instead

THANKS for setting this up, Rick! Got the PM and I'm set.

I'll be picking up the U-Haul Auto Transport tomorrow after work. Mark Anderson has made arrangements for someone to meet me at 928 Intl on Saturday morning to load the Holbert on the auto transport. THANKS to Mark for getting the car to a "roller" state and accomodating the departure schedule!

Maintenance on the truck is done and it's ready to go. I've installed the winch and we should be able to pull the Holbert up on the trailer with no problem. I should be on the road departing 928 Intl around 10:00am. I'm looking forward to a great trip across the country!

It might be well to confirm that a Euro chassis with no vin # on the right inner fender near the hood can be titled and registered in your home state before this project grows leggs. But that is just me I have little emotion when it comes to cars I only love what they can do , they are just machines. Harsh reality is that "production" car record was done with a cheater prototype running tweeked camshafts and none stock chips at a minimum.
Harsh words indeed Jim. Next you'll be pointing out that even when it set the record there were faster production cars available :-( (Ferrari 288GTO, Lambo Countach)

That's great Dwayne. We're looking forward to seeing both of you

I'm going to start a new thread just in case anyone in AZ has missed this so far. See you on Saturday!
