Dwayne,
We will check in with you on Sunday.
I am sure we will have a good DFW crew to help you on the way.
Do you know where you will be staying yet?
Roger

Roger,
Sounds great! I have not selected a hotel but was planning on finding one just outside Dallas along the Interstate - this has worked well for me and provides easy access off/on the interstate and an early start the next morning.
Since I won't have access to e-mail or rennlist, best way to reach me is my cell: 760 three zero one 2109. THANKS for offering to set this up - I look forward to seeing you and the gang on Sunday!

Ed and Dwayne - safe travels.

I would like to contribute a few $ towards gas money. Do either of you have a PayPal account I can send it to?

Thank you for the offer to help, Dan - It's very much appreciated!

The agreement Ed and I made for the tranportation of the Holbert is a shared cost. Ed is paying for fuel (round trip) and the rental fee for the trailer - this is the bulk of the expenses. I'm providing the tow vehicle, my meals and lodging, and my vacation time.

Speaking for myself, I'm good with the arrangements and am happy to donate my time and meals/lodging given Ed is covering the bulk of the expenses. However, if there's one thing I've learned about this community, it's how generous this community is with lending a helping hand. If there are any that would like to help with fuel/trailer rental expenses, Ed may have a means to facilitate receiving donations.

THANKS again, Dan!

Dan thanks for the offer as it is greatly appreciated, but at this time I'm not able to work that out and all the plans and finances are set in place for the trip and the car is good to go.In the future we are trying to develope some method of allowing donations or offerings in exchange for a momento or gear of some sort honoring the Holbert car and the possibility of a return trip to Bonneville 2012. Without having to go through all the posts. Is the car just a empty shell? I don't even see the rear quarter glass.

Ed and all... We came, we saw... the latest Knight of Sharkdom, "Sir Dwayne" and the Holbert 928!!! Had a great time meeting Dwayne and seeing the special cargo. Made sure he was well fed with some of AZ's finest Mexican food, and he was on his way at 6:30 pm AZ time. Dwayne said he was going to drive about 4 more hours or so before stopping for the night. He got in about an hour later than planned, but we had some great photo ops and 928 fellowship.

Safe travels Sir Dwayne! I know you Texas boys will take good care of him at his next "meeting" spot

A few photos in order are (need to figure out how to insert verbiage between photos):
  1. Holbert 928 in tow
  2. The original Holbert car block (rear engine location?)
  3. 928 group in formation
  4. "Wait a minute Dwayne, you're driving the truck, remember!?!"
  5. AZ 928 group fanatics in order: Alan, Rich, Larry, Rick, Chuck, Tom & Tom

Made it to DFW! I decided to stay at the Sheraton in Arlington - the same Sheraton where 2009 OCIC was held this summer. Got here about 4:00pm.

The drive has been tremendous so far - I get to look at the Holbert car all day long in my rear view mirror!

I wanted to say THANKS to the AZ Desert Gang for a warm and friendly welcome in Phoenix. It was great meeting you all and talking about our favorite subject!

I also wanted to give a special THANKS to Ed (Obehave) for making this "Tour" possible and for posting the pics and updates I send him - THANKS Ed! . It's been a memorable experience so far and I'm especially looking forward to the reconstruction work Ed will be doing after delivery - wish I lived closer by!

I plan on holding to the itinerary posted earlier so will be stopping by Memphis and Nashville tomorrow. If there are any that would like to see the Holbert at these locations at the times listed, give me a call 760.301.2109.
