What an awesome story!
That's some place you've got there Ed. I can't wait for the first GTG. Do you have any tentative dates in mind yet?
Dwayne, I'm really sorry I missed you, but it looks like your detour to the Holbert dealership was well worth it and gave the trip a whole new side story. Very cool.
If you head out this way again anytime soon, drop me a PM, I'd love to get together and buy you a TALL drink.

I was thinking that this story is more than worthy of an article in an issue of Excellence, but the more I think about it the story of this car is from start to finish would be worthy of a book. I'd bet plenty of automotive publisher's would be interested.

I'm thinking a movie, Chitty chitty bang bang-like. (Love bug, etc).
World record bonneville speed run, IMSA pace car, high school autoshop centerpiece, never even regestered, smuggled/driven over the sierras from Reno, in the winter, illegally, then registered, built into a race car. Then, pro races on TV, (hit by derek bell, 928GT owner), Car shows, club races, CRASH, tear down, build up agaisnt all odds, back to Bonneville for a record run.............And then all the human interest along the way. Could be good!

" Once again THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this all happen and a special thanks to "Mrs.Dwayne", Naomi, for understanding and donating her time with her husband so he could do this great gesture for me.[/QUOTE]
Thank You Ed for watching out for my husband and keeping track of him on this trip. I heard a rumor that you also sent back a surprise for me and Im looking forward to seeing my hubby and surprise when they get home tomorrow.
Btw, this is my very first post after getting an account on here. I just wanted to say hello to everyone in this awesome community and to also say how much I love 928's & supersiving Dwayne while he works on them! Naomi aka: Mrs Dwayne

As of about 5:30pm CST, Dwayne was westbound on I-44 from Tulsa. He plans to drive until he gets tired tonight, which could be well into New Mexico before that happens.
I had the pleasure of having an early dinner with him upon his arrival here, and we enjoyed a great meal of steak and barbeque at Freddie's in Sapulpa, OK. Lots of 928 talk, and he shared his plans for his latest installment of "Dwayne's Garage" tutorial, but I'll let him do that unveiling.
Pics will have to wait until he posts the ones taken with his camera and cell phone, as I forgot to put the darn Memory Stick in mine (note the irony there ).
Anyway, while I hated missing him in DFW on his way eastbound with the Holbert car, I was glad to see him on the return trip. Safe travels, Dwayne!

Next time Dwayne takes the north road across country, perhaps you'll join and stop by our place for some dinner too! Welcome to the board. I suspect you are quite a shark lover too - we've seen pics of your car!
Don't be a stranger.

Naomi - We met just briefly at Sharktoberfest. I know what it is like to be apart from a loved when they are doing good deeds. Though they are missed in the end their efforts enrich many. Thanks for your patience and being a part of the history of the Holbert car.
Welcome to the Shark Tank. Do be a stranger.

Naomi, No problem I always look out for my friends as I believe we have become new BFF's.The suprise is just a little token of my appreciation,I hope you like it.Welcome to the shark tank the more the merrier!
I've had problems logging on for a while lately so I'm a little behind on the Dwayne sightings. That crazy man has been driving non stop, except for dinner with Jarrod in OK since he left Indianna! Last contact I had with him this morning he was in Arizona and "busting out some crazy dance moves" whatever that means, and was determined to get back early to finish up his timing belt job on Virginia.
Here are some pics of his visit with Jarrod and his sweet GT! Dammit it keeps breaking the link to manage attachments! I'll keep trying.Ed

Hi Naomi. Welcome. I stopped by your house a few weeks ago on my way to LA to have a short visit with Dwayne. I was hoping to meet his better half but I guess you weren't around when I was there. Maybe next tim I pass through.
