Sorry folks. Got myself in a little hot water in the other racing thread. Seems those guys just like to argue vs discuss. I didnt do really anything that the other bozos were not doing, but I guess the last guy caught, gets the penalty.
They were doing some serious bashing and I basically said to someone to grow up, and thats what got me in trouble. (There were several other things going on, but Ill spare the details) Sure, a little unfair, especially since the main propogator was not punished.
Anyway, on to the Laguna Race! Mark and Joe did a fantastic job. great to see a 1-2 finish as welll!
IN typical 928 racer fashion, he limped to the checker due to a blown out MAF, probably due to a backfire under WOT in 4th, and that was probably due to the cracked intake manifold (CF), then he was able to replace the hot wire element and the car was as good as new! Joe's car was running flawlessly, being only 1 -2 seconds behind Mark. Joe was giving the cup cars FITs, and all the folks on the observation deck were cheering for the cup cars to pass him. as the picture Joe posted showed, those 3 cars were all over Joe, only to get destroyed down the main straight.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
The hardware wasnt as deep as usual, due to the noise restrictions which scared a lot of the top guys off, but even if they did show, they could have had some great racing with Mark A. 1:30.xx is about as good as it gets with the best club or Pro cars in any production based class. (excluding ALMS GT2)
To give perspective, the million dollar teams and top pros will run 1:30-1:31s in their 1 hour sprint races, albiet on DOTs. (i.e. SpeedGT World Challenge)
the best part about the 928 effort, is its rare that we even lift up a hood over the weekend. I dont think Joes hood ever came up.
everyone else there , seemed to have full professional support crews handling almost everything. I get a kick out of that in my races with SCCA as well. rarely do I ever have to change a thing, and the car just runs flawlessly!
So, great job mark and Joe, and good hanging out with you and the gang for the day.

Welcome back Mark K. Glad it wasn't a long vacation. Keep your nose clean for a while and avoid the racing forum. I would hate to see you disappear from here just because VR knows how to push your buttons.

The CF intake was designed by Phil Thresie a few years back.....theres a pic of it on 928intl's website under Marks race car.....basically a large dual plenum, dual throttlebody design with bigger diameter runners (not sure of the acutal cross section)......it does loose Hp-torque under about 4500rpm, but gains 50whp up top....so its perfect for race strokers.....which is what it was designed for.....
I think we will see a couple "improved" intakes this year for 928's......but ITB's like Louie-Simard-Veneniger are quite good performers too...but require stand alone ECU's

Thanks! You too Karl! Glad to be back!
Here is a shot of the CF intake that mark and joe have.
It did give about 50hp, but now after their rebuilds is more like 70-80hp!

looks like a scene from the movie Driven - Memo is blocking for Jimmy Bly... remember Memo, back off, let Jimmy win or you'll end up on fire in the pond, hahaha

Look at the rear weight transfer in this shot.
Man, if someone photoshopped out the other two cars, and photoshopped in a Xmas tree it would look like a legitimate launch.
