Default E-bay buyers beware

Just had a third auction cancelled with one day to go on items I had a bid on. It seems that 928 WorldwideParts likes to run these bogus auctions to advertise his many parts and then cancel just before they end. He's got his business info and phone number on the auction and asks that you call. A total waste of our time and interest - if your going to run an auction then be fair to your bidders. I won't waste time dealing with this bozo again.

Don't waste your time John. Its just another quasi-legal parts skimmer who has no intention of running a good business like our normal long-time sponsors like 928intl, Roger Tyson, 928 spec, etc.

His name is Mason Fine or something like that, and this is a recurring theme with him. The ancillary system these skimmers use is to send actual parts to actual people occasionally and make sure those people are happy so they review them well.

A bit disappointing that he doesn't seem to be learning from past mistakes.

John, if you look around this forum you will find much better deal from members selling used parts. e.g. myself in AL, Red in GA, Stan Shaw in CA etc...

Dunno about that, my bid was $29.28 plus $11 shipping for a 85 manual flywheel. I think the shipping was that much on the last one I bought.

Loss leader tactics, that's all. His busniess practices are very suspect, and he is using RW as his personal and free advertising medium. I had one dealing with him, and that's all it took to convince me to stay away.

Gee I wonder how many $29.98 S3 flywheels are available around here? So if someone has one available please contact me. Anyone trying to make a living would be nuts to sell it for nearly than 10 times that amount.

I watched a very shabby-looking S4 intake listed several times, then pulled when the bidding reached only 99 cents. Mason's reasoning was that he had mis-represented the shipping costs and it was "too late" to fix the mistake with hours to go. Yet the same part listed again a few days later had the same shipping info mistake. Others have noted similar issues with his other auctions. Mason's consistent response seems to be to call him if you really need a part. Complaints about slow delivery generated a "ebay auction parts ship in 2 weeks" or similar comment when he was criticized.

My personal opinion, based on observation at OCIC:

Nice guy to talk to, who thinks that selling used parts is similar to the way junkyards used to operate 30 years ago. Junk parts that don't look any Maybe they still do operate that way in his neighborhood. The parts on display at OCIC were dirty, not well labeled, not priced, and the Got Milk girls wren't at all knowledgeable of the cars, or parts for sale. My perspective is based on seeing how Mark A's operation works. Parts are clean, catalogued, well-marked, working condition confirmed, and warrantied. The operation is well staffed, and parts you order are packed and shipped the same day whether ordered via the website or the telephone. You are invoiced on shipment, and if parts are not in stock you know right away. It's run like a real business. There seems to be a sharp contrast, based on my casual observation.

I wonder what this guy did to earn a living before he went into this business....??????

He wore his welcome out here in a persistent and intentional way, as a vendor.

He still posts here infrequently as surfridermason. My guess is he won't touch this thread here. He dissed the OP on RW for posting the same topic over there, as someone with an ax to grind.

Other members over there are calling him on it in a For Sale thread HE started...

I hope he changes his ways, as he has a family to feed.

I just found an 85 upper fan shroud was cancelled and i was the only bidder. No reason just assume he didnt get what he expected for it. I am willing to pay more then the $1 it was listed at or whatever but i cant stand the listing then cancelling then relisting.

I dont even know if its worth writing him to see what he really wants for the things.

Is there a way to contact ebay about his, it must surely be some TOS violation right?

Based on my experience, be glad you didn't "win" the fan shroud. Ordered 2 parts, both junk, and no I did not bother contacting him to get an adjustment, because anyone who sends parts like that out is not worth my time, period.

I hope you already received it and you are happy with what you paid for it.
