Why is correct mileage unknown? Has the digital dash been replaced or is it just broken? If broken that could be a real PITA to fix and possibly pretty expensive too...

Agree with Jim, that interior is FAR FROM "looks new".

I bought the old very brown 1980 about 8 years ago for less than $2,000 now 8 years have passed and an 89 S-4 pops up for $ 4 k does not seem out of line at all..... the cars have not become more collectable they have all simply gotten older. At some point in time the survivors MIGHT get the big bucks but I am not holding my breath ! But hey I sold a XKE roadster for $2,500 and a XK 140 coupoe for $3,500....failed to buy an Allard for $4500 But that was 30 years ago !

Looks a lot better than my $5000 88! I would snag this one up! However the wife would kill me and I am in love with my '88. Something about saving a car from the junkyard.

Referring to the thrashed interior as "looks like new", and insisting your pricing policy is just to make someone's dream come true cause you don't need the money, is probably pushing a few potential buyers away.

Some of us do, and some obviously don't.
I sold two S4's here last year, and would still, to this day, give both of the new owners their money back at any time. Both received a killer deal like this car is going for, simply because I received one too. Both were happy when I checked in on them a few months later.
I have a problem giving away a car on flea-bay because you have no idea who ends up with the car, and I'm all about saving these beauties. That is probably why I bought a '85 Euro on Fleabay - a week before the nicest one I knew of was given away here.

Here on the forum you get to speak with whoever is showing interest.
And unfortunately those who have no interest in buying your car will pick and bash as they have nothing else better to do.
What amazes me is the folks trashing the car - who have absolutely no intent on buying it - know better! If someone knows something wrong with the car that isn't put forth by the owner - bring it on - otherwise lets bring this back in perspective, back to a knowledgeable, helping, forum.
I guess you should have put up a disclaimer asking for a little common courtesy.

Personally if I liked auto's, and S4's - I'd be all over the car. Heck, it could be made into a 5spd for all that matters. There is absolutely nothing that can't be fixed with whats left of the $8 - $10 thousand dollars folks are spending on the same car - everyone here knows that!

At least I own a few Flame suits...... I believe I'll put one of them on.

Might wanna amend the thread title so anyone shopping for an auto 89 will know to look in here.
At that price, someone can put a supercharger on it if the motor and transmission are healthy.

What about this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...5%3A3%7C39%3A1

I hesitate to post these as it's up to you to DYODD. No affiliation. This is the second go round on ebay. It got to 5,800 the first time. Maybe the reserve is high and it's not a screaming deal, but w/o higher bids we'll never know. It just seems there are some buys out there. As always it depends a lot on location.

Mike, Thanks for everything you have said. We definitely feel the same way about a few things going on here.

Charley - Your rich, and your obviously proud of it. I guess listing every valuable car you own (well over $120k worth) in your signature makes you feel like your a little better than us poor folk, with our "THRASHED INTERIORS" and all, right?
I apologized once already for my inaccurate description and I explained how I came to that conclusion. You do understand not everyone here can afford a "perfect" 1993 GTS with your "perfect interior" right? I mean to a lot of people who have seen my interior, have said themselves "it looks like new!" Given, they were comparing it to other 20+ year old cars.

But come on man, everyone else is right - if you have no intention on buying this car, then why bash me? I never did anything to you and I'm a really nice guy who didn't deserve that. I hope you know what you need to do. Maybe having soooo much cash and not knowing what to do with it, gets some people grouchy. Let's just hope this is the case. You don't seem like you'd be jerk for no reason.

Steve your car is in a different league than mine. I have always loved red interiors. Mainly on German/Italian cars. Your car is a great deal as well.

Wow. $4000 for a decent S4. And people here are still raging on it? If I had the cash, I would be calling you in a second. Unfortunately, all of my Porsche money has gone into the 928 I have.

It has been said before, the worst enemy of increasing 928 values are the 928 owners on this board. All but the "Perfect" 928s are considered overvalued and torn apart for small flaws. I think these cars are a serious value and twice the going price. If the values continue to stay low, in a couple of years I'm am going to have a serious decision whether to buy another 928, or to supercharge the one I have.

Still, I'm thinking this car will be gone in a couple of days. If that long. Someone will come to their senses.
