Yes, Las Cruces is more of a straight shot, but no fun. On the other hand, Albuquerque to OCIC, particularly if we take the Roswell scenic route suggested, would be a long day. But I could be in Albu for an early start on Thursday. What about the Denver crowd?

The Roswell route isn't very scenic, it's pretty flat...if you were to come up to Alamogordo from Las Cruces there's more to see, then we could take hwy 82 over the mountains which is beautiful then we'd head east.

Again, I'm flexible on either route

Default My Route to Texas

Here is the route I am thinking about to get to OCIC from Northern AZ.

Page,AZ. south on RT 89 to Flagstaff,AZ. East on Rt40 thru Albuquerque to Santa Rosa,NM.

Southeast on RT84 from Santa Rosa to Fort Sumner to Texico (right on the NM/TX border) on to Lubbuck,TX.

East on RT82 & Rt277 from Lubbuck to Wichita Falls,TX.

Southeast on Rt287 to Ft Worth to Arlington.

1100 miles each way.

From those familiar with those areas...any comments? Thanks, Kevin

Albuquerque seems to be the concensus...I'm 3 hrs. south but willing to make the slight detour if that's what it takes

ABQ seems like the wrong way for you. I may end up coming right by Alamagordo to get to Hobbs for a day or two midweek. Looks like 1.5hrs or so from you to Hobbs, meet up there, and then catch 20 around Odessa for the ride to FW on Wed or maybe Thur. I'll need Thursday in FW for cleaning so it would be a real early start, maybe before the heat comes on. Hobbs is still a maybe, subject to some contract negotiations that aren't mine. Plenty to do between now and leave.

I need dated Dudes ... when should I hit ABQ? I can fly ABQ or DFW. ELP seems inodinately spendy.

I've been thinking about that...I could jump on hwy 82 and go over the mountain range (beautiful country) then meet up in West Tx..

Albuguerque is definately a detour for me and 3 hrs tacked on to the rest don't appeal to me.

Darien:

For some reason I thought you were in Albuquerque. If not, where should we all try to meet up?

Bill,

I think the I-10 to Las Cruces is the better route for you, then jump on hwy 70 up to Alamogordo. Then we can hit hwy 82 for some nice scenery and meet folks in west tx. If you'd like to come in earlier, we have a spare room with your name on it I've got a new SC pulley that I'd like to install if you'd like to play

Darien,

We're still working on routes but planning to stop in Albuquerque Wed evening, then to Arlington on Thurs. Route 82 from Alamogordo sounds great but the extra 3 hours won't work, so we'd be looking to meet up with folks in Albu.

Is there any consensus on where to stay in Albuquerque?

Departure in 12 days! Yikes!!

Cheers
