Brendan - if I knew you at all, I might make some reference about other dipsticks you've been smellin that are related to fluids and your wife.

Jim,

What are your plans for the other midnight blue GTS?

I started reading the post, and I'll tell you. I was jealous...Really jealous. Couldn't believe how nice it looked...I was imagining the ride home, and it was like beautiful music... Then I read the line where the dash lit up. (loud record scratching sound!)
I had to check the date to make sure this wasn't an April fools joke I missed. I'm sorry to hear of the tough break. You're still ahead of the game though. Now you get some bonding time with her. I don't think you could buy as nice an interior GTS that needed paint and an engine for $12k..So with the big dollar paint work, you still got a steal, and the engine was good enough to get you close. I'm extremely glad its not being parted out somewhere. Bravo. Don't leave it at Mark's too long. It might go to a relative or a needy cause! Or... HEY! This car didn't have manhole cover wheels on it? Did it?

Sweet too good to be true GTS $22,000
Plane ride $200
Gas $150
Pretzels and beef jerky $10

Beautiful 5 speed, midnight blue, GTS with perfect interior and a Greg Brown stroker........ PRICELESS.

Seriously, if its any help I can explain to your wife (with pictures) what 8 year odyssey I am on because I did not have the fortunate shortcut of blowing up a perfect car.

Its much simpler your way - to start out with a perfect car with a blown engine.

Hey look on the bright side. You are one of very select few people who ever get to blow up a GTS engine!

Rob,
Sorry to hear it, but glad you are going to power through and give her the motor she deserves. What a beautiful car!!!

Although the original drive home story was sad, I'm sure the chapters to follow will be pretty cool!

Best of luck, keep us ALL in the loop!

Well if the engine turns out to be rebuildable then you STOLE that car for $22K...
If not then its still a pretty good deal, considering you've got a GB stroker almost ready to drop in. Me thinks you can't go too wrong here. So congrats. I think...

You now have the perfect excuse for finishing the stroker motor for the car, regardless of how much it costs!

If you drop the stroker in it what are you going to do with an engineless GT?

Rob-

The GT still has its motor, it's just sitting on a stand 5 feet away. I was going to put the stroker into the GT until a few weeks ago, when David Hawkins posted the engineless midnight blue '93 GTS 5-speed for sale in Colorado. I was looking to buy that car, into which I would install the stroker, but then Jim Morton contacted me with the lead on another '93 midnight blue '93 GTS 5-speed in Portland, which I bought and then blew up.

So- the GT motor is going back into my GT, and the stroker is going into the now- engineless GTS from Portland, not the already engineless GTS from Colorado. Jim M. bought that car and is going to put his project engine into it.

Simple, really.

Ah, I thought you were stroking the original GT motor.

I'm putting my money on spun rod bearing due to the noted oil pressure drop followed subsequently by the ventilated block. Sorry again. That really sucks.
