Here you are again suggesting that i should be banned? AND FOR WHAT EXACTLY? for telling Carl that i disagree with his philosophy on Aero? Give me a break! He asked for feedback, he got it. I never attacked Carl, i did however question his product, but thats all water under the bridge now.

Not sure I really want to get into this but ground effects do have a large effect on LIFT...........very noticable when I fly my helicopter; inverted.

There's your problem. (Spoken in the best Mythbusters style)
You're flying your helichopper upside down.

I know gliders that have no power and stay up for hours!! if they want to get down, they NEED down forces!

Well Ryan, there you go again.-----I wasn't even talking about you.

OK, I'll participate in "saving Ryan's privates".

I fully agree with you becoming a resident on my ignore list.

Please return the favor.

Issue solved.

Er. Thermals.

Let me know when you invent the self levitation glider.

The differences in ideas of what is faster is why there is racing.

My experiences with aerodynamics.

When I had my 90 GT I drove it really fast on several occasions. I noticed that at about 115 mph the car seemed to take an aerodynamic set. From that speed higher it felt like the car was flying on the ground and much more stable than just rolling the weight of the car.

Later when I had a 01 BoxsterS I drove it really fast also in the same sort of environment. I never noticed the car taking any kind of aerodynamic set even with the rear spoiler extended. I did notice the car did NOT feel nearly as stable and got twitchy and very sensitive to steering input at speeds over 125mph. It did not feel safe at all.

Still later found VW Passat up to 95mph felt great, but at even 1 mph over 95 it got really scary and would wander and body roll dramatically with the slightest steering input. Under 95 great, over Very Scary. I upgraded to the stiffer euro suspension, but after the upgrade it behaved exactly the same.

Still later BMW 3 series, 115 felt the same as 60. Never had the opportunity to take it above 115.

Don't have any idea about this...

The body work creates so much of a low pressure area under the car that the exhaust has to be routed 6 feet above the car?

to be pedantic if they want to get down, they need less lift than the force exerted by gravity giving a net downwards force. They still have wings producing lift even when descending, else they would fall straight out of the sky with an acceleration equal to nearly 1G.

Unless of course they fly inverted into a dive with an AoA which would cause "lift" in the direction of the pilots head in which case they can theoretically pull more than 1G downwards

Does anyone know if birds initiate a dive by rolling inverted to benefit from the downwards "lift"

Red tailed hawks dive by folding in their wings gravity takes over

So, you need to make wings for the car to provide downforce for cornerin that retract for less drag on the straights. Rig it so they deploy when you hit the brakes and retract when the wheels are no longer turned and full throttle is applied.

When lift is less than the aircraft's weight, the aircraft will accelerate downward. At a steady rate of descent, lift will equal weight.
