If we move away from the surface vertically, the gravitational pull decreases. What would happen if we drove a burrowing 928 into the Earth toward it's center?

Would the 'G' force of gravity increase, decrease, or remain the same as we descend into the center (hades)? Remember G forces decrease, as we move away from the center of the Earth. Defend your answer.

BTW, I do know the right answer, and there is one and only one right answer.
The force of gravity on you and your "Journey to the Center of the Earth" vehicle will decrease as you approach the center. The thousands of miles of rock over(in?) your head will exert a pull away from the center, until you achieve free-fall at the center.

Edit: Fabio beat me to it!

Damn google, brain teasers are not fun anymore. This typically stumps hs and Jr college students for a bit.

The admiration of HS students everywhere. Take that, and $4 down to Starbucks and you can get a coffee.

Google was involved in the pic I posted above, but not in my response to your brain teaser...

Hey.
Gravity didn't change in that travesty of a remake 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' starring Brendan Fraser.

He also didn't get compressed to the size of a pinhead(only pinhead intelligence) by the 3,000,000 atmospheres of pressure at the core...

This thread has been taken a long ways off-topic.

Bringing it back to the point at hand: canards on a GT sportscar, and specifically OUR GT sports car, let me offer this little update.

The late-model canard (of which I posted a pic attached high on a '91 928) I am withdrawing for the moment until I redesign it. The canard I designed for the early car with "S" chin spoiler did fit 8 different cars at Sharktoberfest very well, and is the first I was considering having manufactured.

Today, the product hit quite the speed bump in manufacturing, where my chosen shop wanted to charge me $100 per pair for the canards in carbon fiber, and $60 per pair for F-glass.

I think thats too high, and the project is stopped until I decide to make them in house or find a less expensive manufacturer to make them for me.

I leave you with a few photos, Audi's canards on the Audi TT, Ferrari's canards on the F550, and the new 2008 Viper ACR model.

Note the location of the Canards shown are much lower than which you proposed. Without tuft data, the direction of airflow where your's are located may be flowing at a +30deg angle up, may be flowing +30deg down from horz, may be straight, who knows? So, if you have no angle of incedence, you could put on a canard that is doing nothing but creating drag, with no downforce, or even creating lift! Increasing flat plate drag with no downforce benefit is worse than no canard at all.

That was my only point from the beginning. There are aero benefits to these devices, but without some solid modelling, it's just a guess.

Hmmm... unexpectedly appropriate for us U-Boat commanders...
