Joe and Mark put it together from what i heard by the end of the day.
I think Mark put on some slicks and got down to the 1:31s
I will be driving the Holbert car out there to finish the break in process and watch their race!

Hmm with the old Holbert 928 doing 1:37's on DOT's....with the new stroker you should be around 1:35's..... BUT you are really gonna need bigger brakes now!

Race Report:
Anderson wins by about 30 seconds. Mark averaged about 2 seconds a lap faster than the 2nd place car. Joe Fan moved up from 9th starting position to take 7th over all.
It was a fun day. During qualifying, I saw Mark had pulled back into the paddock after just one lap. I ran over to his trailer. Mark had lost his brakes. It appears a bleeder was left loose after a pre-race brake bleed. Brake fluid all over the left front wheel. Another nearby racer and I got the wheel off and bled out a bunch of air and tried to wash the brake fluid off the rotor and pads. Mark went back out and knocked off a 131.7 lap to qualify on the pole. Nearest competitor was in the 133's. So, this foresaw the race result noted above.
During the start there was a mishap. Mark briefly slowed after missing a shift. The cars behind him bunched up with some collisions. Another driver trying to sneak by the melee banged into Mark's rear quarter, lifting him off the ground and pushing him into another driver who went off. At this point Mark was a couple of seconds behind the leader. After that sorted out and everyone took off, Mark came out from behind the hills, 2/3rds of a lap later, in the lead by the same amount, and his lead grew steadily at 2 seconds per lap from there.
It was a rather decisive win that may aggravate the big bucks cup car crowd.
That was quite a treat, but the highlight for me personally was the parade lap session. Jim Morton offered to let me drive his GTS (my car was mid-SC re-install at home) while he played instructor. For a $20 donation we thought we might get to take 3 or 4 laps of the track, but they let us run out there for more than hour. I lost count of the laps, and by the end, with Jim's tutoring, I had the lines down pretty well. THE CORKSCREW! After the turn-in, you are totally blind as the road falls away under you. Jim gave me a landmark to aim for (a tree) and I came down right along the berm. No speeding laptimes, but it was still quite a kick to get to drive Laguna Seca for so long. Any of you who may be going out for tomorrow's races, DEFINITELY do not pass up the $20 bargain parade lap session. [EDIT: Ooops! It appears parade laps were Saturday only]
CONGRATS TO MARK AND JOE!

I could have gone much faster if it wasn't for the traffic in front of me.....

Seriously, that was the best $20 I've ever spent. My daughter and I had a blast, she doesn't even have her license yet and she's already planning on a DE.

Mark just abused the field. I have video of the start, would have been much better had it not been for the POC girl yelling at me to get off the pit wall! There was some contact that turned one of the faster cars around and he might have hit the wall.
Mark just put a woop'n on all the cup cars. He should be ashamed of himself![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Joe had a good battle going on , and seemed to be turning some pretty decent times.
Cant wait to get the Holbert Stroker back out at laguna. Hopefully, all the 928 strokers will be out there at the end of sept for the ITE double regional. Bill, Im not quite in the 1:37s, barely breaking into the :38s. (ie 1:38.7 is my best, the last time the Holbert car hit Laguna) I bet the average 70 more hp is good for 1-2 seconds. Im guessing, low 1:36s.

Congratulations to Mark A. and Joe F! Can anyone give a quick rundown, maybe with pictures, of the competition that was spanked? Neat to know about the cars so the win can be put into perspective for those not at the races.
It seems the 928 can also handle a bit of rubbing on the track and still hold together, unlike the Cup Cars that are pretty fragile if banged up a bit.
Wish I were there,
Constantine

On the restart we were worried that Mark may have at least knocked the left rear out of alignment and would have a problem getting around the 996TT that had taken the lead after the initial incident. We briefly turned our attention to the restart of the second half of the field when my daughter said "Mark just passed him", and we see him pulling away out of 5. When the two cars reappeared coming down the hill the gap was already a second and it was obvious that no permanent damage had been done. The closest Mark came to losing the race after that was avoiding a DQ in the post race impound for wearing deck shoes and tube socks during the race, that would have sucked!

Deck shoes and Tube socks...................Thats almost as funny as sharing tires and sandwiches.
I bet that is an official record for the fastest a set of Sperry deck shoes have EVERY been around Laguna seca!
