The looseness of the interpretation of the rules is directly related to how much money and influence someone on the track has that Mark passed.

/I think that made sense...

I can see how that interpretation can be made, even though Mark was just holding the same 2-wide starting grid line and there was no room for him to move over to the right w/o banging someone else. I presume the guy that tried to pass thought Mark had stalled and so he was going to go around him, but then Mark got his car in gear and took off and the squeeze happened. I can't see how Mark could have avoided it. Oh well.

That video showed what happened nicely Thanks Mark K.

It looked like the car who was video taping jumped at the start. I didn't see the flag man so I can't say for sure but he sure did get a jump on the guy in front of him.

From the tower it was clear he jumped the start, and if he hadn't have done so he would not have made contact with the car in front of him and the whole incident may never have happened. I sure hope he got a DQ as well.

Looking at the in car video MK posted I would say the guy who got squeezed out on the left has no-one to blame but himself. But, that is only the opinion of someone in OZ who got their first race licence at 17 and is now 42

He avoided Mark's slowing car and then got plowed into from behind before pinballing off of Mark and the wall, what could he have done differently?

the only contact was when he tried to squeeze through where he hoped mark wouldnt be. It was a bad bet, and not the first time ive seen someone get pinched there. The 13/13 should have only gone to the turbo that got pinched. Lucklily, Marks car is a tank and was still not only able to get back in front, but last the entire race, and knock off a great time of 1:31.xx

He got plowed into from behind (you can't really see it in the in car), he didnt have much choice in the matter. I'm obviously a layman here, but I don't know what else he could have done.

I dont know what tape you are looking at, but no one got hit from behind.
anderson got hit on the side and the car getting pinched got some damage on both sides.

We saw it in real time from the tower, the car in the video definitely made contact with the car that got squeezed. There was a nice chunk of yellow front spoiler up against the wall for the remainder of the race.

The 13/13 rule is a joke.

My take on race incidents is that they suck, but if someone attempts to pass and fails once they are side by side because of a wall in the way it probably wasn't a good place to attempt to pass.. Hell, I've had to put two wheels in the dirt when passing cars and never considered it anything but me being to optimistic.

I am wondering though, if the driver who attempted to pass would have kept his momentum - wouldn't he have made it through?
