Not sure how much a good set of non-928 seats would cost you, but that's what they would be, non-original seats.

Let's say the used leather 996 seats cost you $500 plus $150 for shipping (if you can't buy them locally).

Example: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Set-o...spagenameZWDVW

For twice that amount you can have Paul recover your seats and have beautiful original 'Paul Champagne' 928 seats. And your heated 12-way power option would still be functional.

Remember he is only 30 minutes away from you.

Be safe and pray nothing happens to your family, or car.

Well, the reason I decided to go for the new seats rather than having them recovered was because I didn't really like the style of my seats. I'm not really sure what the big deal is about having original 928 seats. If for some reason I ever wanted to sell my car, which I don't see happening, and the seats are a deal breaker, my seats and the brackets they are on can easily be removed and original 928 seats can be put on.

However, I would have given the new leather more thought if I lived as close to Paul as sty3x does.

The brackets were pretty easy to make once I figured out what I wanted and where the holes should go.

928 Seats are very comfortable for some reason your seats look extremly different from mine or any other 928 I've ever seen for that fact anyone shed some light on this??

BTW, Dolly is getting very bad down here crazy stuff going on. I wonder how Paul is doing he lives right on the water.

My seats were sport seats for the 1981 928s.

Here are some pictures of sport seats out of another '81 928:

When a car came with sport seats, the rear seats were different too.

The seats you are probably used to seeing are the comfort seats.

We're ok. Lot's of rain, lot's of wind, but all things considered, pretty lucky.

Back on 928 stuff:
The early sports seats were quite a bit different than the standard comfort. The later seats are the exact same between comfort and sport, except for the size of the bolsters.
The early sport seats didn't even carry the 928 specific insert design.

Glad to hear your okay, Paul. Its getting quite severely flooded over here. :-\. Not to my area yet, but brownsville and south McAllen is getting pretty bad.

Ah, I don't want to offend anyone but the early sport seats are quite ugly. IMHO the later 928 Sport Seats are the best

Keep vigilant, you don't want to take chances with these things.

As for seats, I see it probably in a different perspective than most. To me it as more to do with the potential of the core.
I'm working on a design for the early seats that might change your mind

But all academic since you have the later version anyway.

Dave Roberts (DR) and Jeanie at 928SP are great to deal with even when you are exasperated and exasperating. DR is a site sponsor and a frequent contributor to the Rennlist boards. Don't forget 928 Int'l. Jim Bailey and Mark Anderson are great to deal with, too, and sometimes can get you out of production parts that are sitting in their warehouse that are not available elsewhere. There are some other folks in the 928 vendor community here, now, that I haven't dealt with...others can speak to them.

You should do the TB/WP yourself. It really is a rite of passage in 928 ownership. Get the manuals. Read everything on this board and the archives written by Walley Plumley, find John Pirtle's site ('Typ 928 Pirtle' on Google).

And I agree with everything that has been said about the GTS brakes. I also have an 87S4, an auto, and sooooo much needs to be done to the car. Eye candy like GTS brakes with modest performance gain, if any, is not even on the horizon right now.

Make the car mechanically sound. Don't forget the HVAC which will vex you. And enjoy the ride.

To each his own. I think the early sport seats were the best looking and the most comfortable. I had them in my 81 moosgrun. I wish my 87 had them.

I think everyone will be saving that 1 as their new 'ENZO' thread pic.
