Default SCCA ITE SEASON OPENER at SEARS POINT (InfinionRaceway)

March 31st, Season Opener at Sears Point Infinion.

two races on sunday. 1st race in the AM, 2nd race is the last one of the day.

Cant wait to try out my new steering wheel, tie rod, .18 degrees of toe, and brake and clutch pedal new shaft and bearings

that all has got to be worth .1 second!

Kent Jordan of Evo Fame, will be there with 2 cars, the BMW GAC GS M3 and his new Mustang factory race car for the series he is racing in. Also, there is a rumor of the monster NSX turbo, WC Subaru , and then the usual suspects.
(vet, 928s, supercharged S2000, mustangs, and BMWs)

Onward to Season 7 for the Holbert car! Knock knock!

Is the GAC M3 the I6 or V8 variety?

This was a front running Grand Am Cup GS M3 from a couple of years ago.

(i6, 315rwhp)

this is a shot of the car for a brief time behind me with randy pobst at the wheel. He was paid by Kent to test the car and run it in the race.

all sorts of machinery is coming out of the wood work.
The time attack champ car NSx will be there with a rumored 600+ hp , just saw this addition: http://www.pdxtuning.com/current_projects.htm
Here is the Subaru's times at laguna with a racer friend of mine driving:
http://www.subarutsukubachallenge.com/results.html
thats right, 1:34 at laguna on DOTs. Faster than Anderson ran in any of the speed GT races at Laguna!

Then, to top it off, a 600hp viper GTS, and a World Challenge Comp coup viper, running in the newly formed BP class that runs in our group for x-world challenge racers. (in an attempt to keep ITE pure grass roots racing.... i mean, anything goes on DOT!! )

The Mustang challenge car will be there for its first debut race in the West (east coast series with Utah as its farthest west coast venue). Kent Jordan, the owner of 5-6 world class race cars, including 2 of the Orca Vipers from pre-Y2k ALMS GTS, the Grand am cup GS BMW, the EVO and a couple of track day vipers too!

And of course the usual suspects. The supercharged S2000, the Z06 racer, the pro built M3 racer, and a couple of 928s that you guys might recognize. man, its going to be tough to break into the top 10 in this one!

I assume this is March 30 (Sunday). I will be occupied with kid's college moves or working on George's car.

John Davis will be participating in his first race ever the same day in his newly prepared 928 Racer at Portland International Raceway, also an SCCA ITE opener I believe.

Hopefully it will be a good weekend for all the 928 pilots out there.

just saw the list at SCCA. ITE is no up to 20 cars, with a few new adders.

The mustang challenge car is official, but there is also a panos GTS, PRC 911, and a few other new entries.

The group is 41 cars right now. kind of scary for Sears!

I predict a ninth place finish based on the combined IT ,Touring Car on used Toyos , running clockwise with a 15 MPH S E wind. Laps times from 2003 -2004 average over 20 races. Anderson's best lap times without the kink being only 2-3 seconds faster. A solid ninth place... Have a good race !

Just found a video you might like jim. One of the guys, Ron Pippen has a pretty well known STI subaru. on the video, they quote it as being 500+whp and 500+torque. Funny, both this Subaru and the rumored 600hp NSX will be double stinting in the Super production class in group 3 as well as our ITE group 1.

In your predition, what "without" kink are you refering to? in 2000, anderson in his 410rwhp car, did a 1:51.xx on the same configuration that we are running. However, he ran a 1:39.9 on this configuration a year or two ago with 75 more hp (CF intake) and real slicks. (down from Joe's and Marks time of 1:43ish a couple of years earlier, also on slicks). He did do a 1:45 on the long turn 7 (2 seconds longer, so 1:43ish) in SpeedGT, in the race where he finished 10th and punted Galiati. (my favorite race of Mark's).

Based on the information, 9th place?? Is that 9th overall, including the World Challenge Viper and race Panos?

Ok, thats the target . sub 9th it will be!

Im hoping, maybe the big motored NSX and Subaru might not be able to run as fast as the car's potential. all i really want to do is beat that Kent Jordan Mustang challenge racer! then, the vet is lighter, M3 is faster, (2) S2000 supercharged racers, ............ Its going to be a tough one!

MK

my predition of finishing order:

worldchallenge Viper 1:46
S2000 SC 1:47
M3 :1:47
NSX 1:47
panos 1:47
Sti 1:47
928 MK 1:48
vet 1:48
Mustang challenge racer 1:49
pro driven BMW 1:49
RX7 1:50
S2000SC 1:50
928 scot 1:51

Thats just the top 13 for ITE

You do not know about the kink ?? Where you deliberately go "off line" !! that is an easy .2 seconds per lap...
