I've read on here that people regularly tip their service advisors. This is news; I've never done that, at least not for money (I've been known to bring a dozen donuts to a service). It's not unlike me to be clueless about things like this.

Is this truly a practice people follow? I'm happy to tip if it's a norm, as a matter of fact I owe my current service advisor for all the great work he did with my 991.2.

My service advisor wears a Rolex and a Patek, I feel like if i tip him he would be confused and maybe insulted. You can get wine or drinks - i got wine for a tech who went above and beyond for me on an issue, he definitely earned it and I wanted to show my utmost appreciation.

I've given restaurant gift cards to my advisor to distribute amongst his techs who worked on my car. The good advisors do decently well financially on salary and bonuses. Absolutely no need to give them cash. They won't turn it down but all 10s on the survey is more valuable to them than the $20-$100 you'd give them.

Ok great, thanks for the insight. Yeah service advisors must make great money because I’ve been through 3 salesmen over the past few years but the same service guy in that same time. Porsche service is so much better than Jaguar or BMW of which I’ve had recently.

Yes! When they flip the screen I usually do 30% on the $1200 oil change. Seems fair in this economy.

0% chance I tip a SA unless something requires them to go above and beyond to get something done for me.... in which case a small thank you would be appropriate. Standard stuff, nope.

No cash. Food is good - bagels, donuts, cookies, etc - so the entire service staff can munch on them.

The pendulum is slowly starting to swing back and all this craziness will finally stop. Tipping your service advisor, paying outrageous premiums for the right to buy a car at full price, being treated with no respect like a piece of meat by your dealer, settling for less than what you really want - Its nuts!!
Give it a little more time and the world (including the world of Porsche) will return to a reasonable level of normal.

Do not tip people for doing their job. Tip service people like servers modestly, very well if they go beyond normal. SAs are doing a job, so no. Besides the place I used to go to, would have new SAs many times during the year. They should've tipped me for putting up with their crap.

I tip my SA and the tech cash if they go above and beyond. They definitely appreciate it, and I appreciate it when they go above and beyond.

Where do people draw the line between the high quality service that one expects for the exorbitant parts and labor prices charged by high end vehicle manufacturers like Porsche and doing something "above and beyond"? Examples?
