no offense intended of course.. I know you are trying to do a good job on it. it's just that the metal wire core on mine (and most I suspect) was oxidized even where the outside looked ok. and the insulation gets dried out and seems to lose its ability to insulate even where it looks intact.
so even after I did the same kind of rebuild, and spent a bunch of time and $$ on it - it just didn't work right and I ended up replacing the whole darn thing after all that... seemed like trying to fix a dam with bandaides after it started to crumble. just trying to save you the same pain

Where we did not replace the connectors, we soldered the crimp connections to insure a better electrical connection. Also this particular harness is quite replaceable after the fact, so we were not that worried about it.
The parts were free, as I had a spare harness lying around.
Besides I got a free dinner out of it

If you saw my O/T thread on central heat, you know my obsession with it. 40$ and 20minutes and now his garage has thermostatic control. No more too hot, too cold syndrome.

I had actually tried startng it a bit earlier, but it ran like ****. The ignition monitoring relay kicked in with a green light. That told me it was cyl,2,3,5,8. Plugs were a bit damp. I had spark. Then for ****s and giggles I checked to make sure I hadn't swapped #2 and #3... and sure enough.. they were transposed.
I swapped them and grabed my camera. Still have a few loose ends to wrap up, but I am very relieved that it runs.

Congrats. Nice work, thats a great feeling to hear that sound.Gives me something to look forward too. Oh well back to scraping off the old head gasket material and waiting for the heads to get back from the machine shop. Enjoy the NEW ride.
