Andrew,
Where is it that you think the oil pan leak is coming from? When did my rebuild i had an oil leak that i determined to be the RMS (Rob E. Also had an RMS leak after he put in a new seal so this is becoming a problematic issue, sounds like the 996 board) But that oil would get onto the pan then because of the shape of the pan migrate forward of the rms because it slopes that direction and the entire bottom of the pan had oil on it.
Ive replaced the RMS again and have only had he car running for a few minutes. But today i will actually drive it and put some miles on it and see wether or not my leak is gone.
Where did your now leaking RMS come from? Mine was int he porsche engine rebuild kit. The seal i later got from Roger is the one thats currently in the car.
I would be curious to know where Rob got his seal, if it was part of the Porsche engine kit. I previously installed an RMS alone on my old engine and it never leaked. Yet the rms in the kit and the one i bought individually both carry the same PN. I am wondering if there was a faulty batch that went into all the engine rebuild kits. Just speculation though

I did the RMS about a year ago and did not re-do it when I had the engine out (RMS came from Specialists). Thoguht about re-doing it, but it looked okay. It may be just that the oil pan is leaking back there - I didn't get a good look. I'm starting to wonder if perhaps I'm pressurizing the crankcase. I'll diagnose when I get back from my trip on Friday.

Oh, I see it was not changed. If it didn't leak before, not likely now. More likely the pan gasket.
