Andrew - you will be good to go when you get DR's final production manifold. No problems with the injector seals or the manifold base. I understand why this has taken him as long as it has.

Porsche Wiring SUCKS!
I knew I had a little issue at the 14-pin connector. Thanks to Rod K. (69Gaugeman) he offered to donate some wire from his '82 parts car and help me re-solder some bits. Here's what we started with. Look familiar?
Well what we thought was going to take 2~3 hours quickly became a 6 hour job! We found several wires that were in pretty rough shape about a foot up into the harness, and the Alternator (exciter wire?) was totally trashed! So we removed the entire harness and began filleting the sheathing all the way down. Eventually we made it down to the alternator connections and replaced the wire.
After making all the repairs, we put it into a flexible corrugated sheathing. I need to pick up a new 14-pin housing (pin13 & 14 are loose), but at least I can now rest knowing that my car isn't going to go up in flames because of an electrical fire! DAYUMM!
Rod had to make a run to the store for his son and swung by Home Depot for me and built me a thermostat controller for my torpedo heater. It's awesome. Thanks Rod! I owe you huge!

Note to self: send donated part by next day courier.
j/k. We really thought we would have it all wrapped up in an hour or two. But if you peel back the crispy outer coating and bend the wires a small amount, be prepared for chaos.
Also don't cut wires that you can just pull out

Those 14 pin connectors are total crap in my opinion. It's like they are made of Bakelite or some other such 1950's material. I gotta tell ya, i am not impressed with the electrical engineering efforts that went into these cars, specifically the harness design. The party responsible for designing harnesses at the time was probably promoted to that position under The Peter Principle.

gotta keep in mind, these old boats are 20+ yrs and not getting any younger. and any wiring/plastic subjected to the elements, oil, gas, extreme heat/cold over time will eventually disintegrate. I had issues w/all my harnesses so I got new OEM front & main sets, but the new stuff has been flawless.
IIRC, carl at 928 motorsports is making new harnesses now. might be worth a look to see if it'll be a better fix than a bandaide on ancient stuff.

We definitely did not do a bandaid! That's why we cut the harness open and replaced the entire length for the AC exciter lead. Now for the sensor wires... we were a bit more open to using splices, but we did inspect the length of the wire. The replacement wire we used looked band new and I am 100% satisfied that it will hold up for another 10+ years.
And BTW, my car is still a sprightly 18 years old!
