Watercooler!

That is one unique, well-done 928. No one has a car like that. Awesome!

As was said above, you have great vision, and have created what I think is, visually, a uniquely modern revision of the 928.

Inspirational! I hope to see it in person some day.

That's some photo essay. I like the way you explained your thinking and motivation behind the journey. An amazing project brought to conclusion very well.

I'm thinking that the profile view that a few have had exception with is probably more the effect of the photo not showing the contours. From all other angles I think it looks hot and I'm betting that the profile view does as well, but it needs to be viewed in person or 3-D to appreciate the contour. Nicole's point about having a large painted area there is a good one, but I think it's not as big as it looks in the photos. It's clearly contoured, but it looks like a large flat area when viewed from that angle in these photos and that lighting.

I think it looks awesome and the photo that Ed MD posted with the 997 bears out your assertion that this is quite possibly what a 2008 or so 928 would have looked like if production had continued.

You are a god.

Also, congrats on the recent tax deduction. Sleep is overrated.

Thumbs up

Wow... quite a job!

On the shape, I'll go with those who say that this makes the nose look too massive. Wasn't there a body kit maker producing similar looking but a little less uhm... pronounced bumper covers? AIR or something like that?

That's whats going on my ride, but it isn't the same. The AIR is aftermarket, no question about it when you see it. Watercooler's design looks like what it is, Porsche through and through.

Good job. If it were easy to please them all with one design then everyone would drive identical cars. I think you have done a great job. As good as any design out in the market today.

That is the ugliest thing I have ever seen. I assume you wanted everybody's .02 or you wouldn't have posted 19 pictures. And you can do whatever you like, it's your baby.

Thanks for all the input guys (with the exception of SteveG), good/bad, I appreciate it.

I just wanted to share my experience with our little community here.

I will try to answer the couple questions that were asked via PM, but time is tight right now.

Cheers,
Michael

I agree with what Watercooler did.

The 928, if you are into updating it, needs to be "shortened" and he was trying to do that with this bumper cover mod. Basically, if you look at the front of the new Aston Martin, thats what the front of a 928 COULD look very similar to, since if you take the bumper cover and bumper bar off, the car STOPs at the front of the fenders.

Nicole:

That's quite a striking improvement, matching the vents up with the front lights. I still think watercooler's design is good and would look better with a rear-end treatment to balance it out.

I like the look - very impressive how you R&D the front cover. Nice Job

Although - I would be very careful with those parking curbs -

I'm kind of surprised to be the first one mentioning this, but I think that if you would have gotten rid of the side moldings while you were at it, it would make a huge difference in the overall look.

I forgot to mention that mockup of the false floor is brilliant. Very good solution to the problem.
