An absolutely impressive job, congratulations! I, like I'm sure all of us, have seen many projects begin with lofty aspirations like you must have had, only to get mired down in the process of turning vision into reality. You pulled yours off, and that is a heck of an accomplishment. On the design itself, I agree with virtually all of the positive comments that have been made, and also with a couple of the negatives. The lister (sorry, too lazy to check out to see who said it) who noted that it might [my italics] have been better to angle the nose to keep it more in line with the upper section, I think had the best criticism. But all in all, a fantastic job and a very appealing car. The more I think about it the fewer such great results I seem to be able to remember. I'll think about this one the next time I tip a glass of something good. [Well there, that's done already ].

Wow! huge undertaking. I am impressed. I agree that it may look even better if it had a little rake to it. But theres always room to improve any design. Great job.

 

Dare to dream. This thread kinda sounds like the comments/criticism when the 928 first debuted. I guess history has a way of repeating itself after all. Excellent work and I agree, it takes alot to bring something from concept to completion congratulations! Please let us know how the driving experience is. I.E. handling feed back from other drivers. Also it would be fun to see it in Excellence magazine drop them a line it cant hurt.

 

Great imagination, foresight, and execution! A lot of people have 'great' ideas, but are too lazy to do anything about them. This is by far the best 928 body-mod I have seen. All others look way too contrived and bolt-on, ruining the car's lines.

With that said, ew928's picture sums up my feelings:
I think that little change looks absolutely perfect as it flows a bit better with the car's lines, and being more subtle, makes it look truly factory.

Well I have to say I do actually prefer the vent delete look - strangely it seems to lighten the front up a bit.

Ernie got me thinking....

So this is what I meant at the front - and taking the idea of more rake to the front end too...

So about 13 degrees @ the front about 4 degrees up slope on the lower fender valence (and raised a little too) and rounded more into the wheel well... I think it lightens it a bit and flows back to the skirts better...

Michael - only reason I'm playing with it is that I like it a lot overall...

It's crazy how a matter of just a few inches higher or lower, totally changes how something looks to you... Anyhow, I agree that it's an improvement, but not perfect. To me, it's just a little low in front, compared to the back and sides. But AWESOME work. And awesome that you had the motivation to make it happen...

 

From the side it looks a little nose heavy, but from the front it looks absolutely badass! I like it. Tons of good work, also. It definitely DOESN'T look like a hack job, thats for sure. Great work!

Fine workmanship and a valiant effort. Agreed, not for everyone...me included. I always applaud the efforts for thinking out of the box and trying new things...it breeds even more new and creative ideas.

That being said, I find no continuity in the design from the front graft all the way to the back wing. I looked at this long and hard and it just does not work in design and it can be likened to putting ketchup on a Fillet Mignon.

FWIW, I'm probably an anti - Christ of the 928 design myself, so I really don't have much room to talk.

I spent a little bit of time trying to make this thing work in my mind and made a few mods of my own...still doesn't work. Your grafts look exactly that.




I don't think any Photo shop job can fix the design clashes. Sorry. As long as you are happy, that is all that matters. Good luck and enjoy your vision!
