My new custom front bumper cover and side skirts - HUGE POST SORRY

A counter point:
I mentioned that the profile really puts me off because the spoiler as alan said looks much heavier then the rest of the car. I said its lower and looks out of balance but i think we are seeing the same things. However, one of my quibbles with the stock S4 is the factory spoiler, when looking at a 928 it looks like it needs deeper skirts, or something to match the height of the front spoiler.
928's look best in the grass, preferably not recently cut grass is it hides this design flaw (at least to me) of Porsche. This is less of an issue on lowered cars but its always something thats bothered me.

My car is almost factory ride height, and I still scrape the spoiler in many situations. I would not want anything lower - when I bought the car it was way down in the front. I bottomed out all the time, and had terrible bump steer on top of that!

As to this particular modification, it's a tremendous effort, and the craftsmanship seems to be top notch.
However, this car now looks quite "front heavy", and the following picture illustrates why: The Cayenne front was designed for a much shorter and higher overhang...
Since the Cayenne vents are so high, but do not extend as far as the turn signal lenses, you get a large painted area underneath the turn signal and side markers that causes this front-heavy look.
I find that rarely do pieces of one car work well on another. But for many it's hard to see this before the work has been completed.
The bumper cover options of Strosek and Jacquemond take this into account and provide a more balanced look - but even some of those need modifications in the rear to balance things out.
Maybe Mike can come-up with some rear bumper cover mod that echoes his work in the front and brings some visual weight to this area. In order to visually lighten the front, some serious sculpting would have to be done to those vents (see photoshop experiment below)...

That looks really tough, are you going to do a rear valence?

Pretty cool. So do your cooling fans even come on in normal driving with that much
air inlet surface area?
If you get the car up on the lift post a picture of the fill piece you added to make the undertray work with the new bumper cover.
Wonder if the 928 will stay cool with just the 2 big side inlets. Just wondering.
Are you wheels the same as the RH 3piece that's being sold in the member for sale section?

Any pics of the car with the headlights up?
And congratulations on the bouncing addition to the family and the wonderful afternoon naps.

i too think it's a great job...
i think it's cool and then again not...
to me it looks as if it pulls the front down.
but if i would not have the 928 siluette in mind and would see your car, as the first 928,
then i'd think it is a new model and she looks really awesome

Fantastic write-up and craftmanship, but...I don't like the look. I prefer close to stock.
I fail to appreciate the heavy spoilers & skirting that seems to be the latest trend especially on cars since The Fast & the Furious movies came out.

I think it looks great and the amount of work you did is mind-boggling. That being said, its not quite my cup of tea, but then again, I still have my original 16" phone dials on...
It does look pretty cool...

I think it totally ruins the lines of the car. From the side, it looks enormously front-heavy, and completely breaks the continuity of the line from front to rear. From the front, it is bottom-heavy, looking as though it will lift the rear tires off the ground at any moment. All in all, IMO, it is an aesthetic disaster.

Very professional, It's whether your pleased with the outcome that matters and not someone else. There's purist in the total Porsche community that would rant about changing to a CD player...enough said...Very professional, I agree with you that this is in the general credo that Porsche follows in their other lines...I can see the resemblance in my friend's 997 w/factory Aero kit. I do agree that something to the rear valence needs to be thought out to complete the ensemble. I really want to complement you on the finished product..."it does look factory!" Ed M

Love the effort but i have to agree with others that the front dam is heavy in comarison to the rest of the car. Great job and what matters is that you love it!!

Michael - I thought you had the stock rear GTS spoiler - on closer inspection (and less wine) I see you actually already have the bigger wing I was thinking about...
I note that the front lower valence follows the wheel radius - curving down & backwards did you consider rounding this trailing rear edge area to lighten it? I think that would make a difference to the perceived heaviness there.
I do also like the Strosek side skirts - I think they are essential with the other changes you have made.
As you can tell lots of people love their 928's just as they were from the factory - no surprise...!

It is, it's just not stock.
What a cool project. Truly updates the look to be inline with anything coming out of the factory these days. I could definitely see it in a brochure showing your 928 in a line with the rest of the current Porsche family tree.
Idea through Design through Execution. Really an incredible job that was well done Watercooler. I bet it's even more knock down gorgeous up close.
Wow!!!

Looking at the front cover again, I wonder how it would look with the lower of the side inlets blanked out. So there's only 1 horizontal line of air intakes, in 3 sections. Just musing.
Not sure what would make a nice rear valance to match the new front bumper.
Perhaps something with the dual exhaust outlets for show.
