I'm with you Brendan, the new Vette's are nice. I will always keep my 928, but the C6 is pretty sweet and I would definately own one. My father owns a couple vette's, a '61 and an '06 C6 (Z51 suspension and brake package and premium interior). He added a few aftermarket upgrades - corsa exhaust, shift gate defeat chip and a short shift kit. The car is solid, comfortable and flat out flies.
Mike,
I can also identify with you. Mechanical design and integrity have a special place in my heart ( this is why I'm a Mechanical Engineer and not a Chemical Engineer). The 928 has been one of my favorite cars since I can remember. I really gathered a deep appreciation for the 928 design when taking mine apart and putting it back together. There are some things you just don't notice until you go through this process. BUT, in my opinion, to deliver a solid product at a competitive price is also to be appreciated whether or not some parts have multiple functions.
I know that newer cars these days can outperform my '79. But no matter how many Mustang GT's leave me behind I will always sleep well at night knowing that I own the last grass-roots/ahead of its time Porsche designed sports car.

If I get the question if I'd prefer a Corvette or a 928 I'd say that it depends on the useage.
I want a pristine mint spectacularly nice 928 of any model year, or all model years and variations to keep as a piece of history.
For something more like daily use or abuse I'd get a Corvette. It is a new car after all, and they are nice.
If I'd go racing I'd get whatever was closest to the final configuration of the race car.

I upset a few people on the Saturn Sky forum when I implied I love the Sky, if it were anything but a Saturn. Touchy group over there.
Local guy is bolting a turbo to a non-turbo Solstice. They are looking for about 300rwhp. Not earth shattering, should be fun. They weigh as much as an OB.

I love them both for diff reasons..The gts is just a beautiful design and smooth driving fast car. Our 2005 vette is awesome with the 6 speed but not as nice looking as my 928 I drive the 928 way more...!!!

Hey Brendan,
Personally I think the new Corvettes are amazing from a strictly performance & looks perspective. Having driven and been a passenger in a few I wasn’t impressed with the ride quality and as some have already commented there’ve been some fit & build quality issues as well. But seeing how I use a 4x4 truck (known for squeaks & rattles) as my daily driver so I’m sure I could get used to it.
That said - I think I found the main reason why I don't think I would want to put my own money down on one.
While I was dropping off my daughters at school & daycare this morning (approx two miles), I saw no less than *7* C6's, a couple of C5s and one C4.
In fact I was sitting at a traffic light on my way home afterwards and two red C6s (one ZO6) pulled up next to and behind me in the turn lane. That is something that would be a rare occurrence indeed for us 928 folks unless there was a gathering of some sort.
A suggestion next time you commute – count how many you see on the road? It might give you pause for thought.

Buy what you want, when you want.
I don't understand all the "stay with the 928" talk. Sure, I love my 928, and I'd like to keep one forever, but unless I hit the jackpot, its unlikely that I will (get the whips and noose out now).
There's just too many sweet sports cars that I'd like to own.
Its just like motorcycles for me. I've owned a few that I would have liked to keep, especially my rare '82 Katana 1000, but I finally let it go, and its ok. If I want another one, I'll buy another.
And my low vin# Z car. I love 240Z's (owned 3 so far) and would like to have another one, but just can't afford it.

I like all the Vettes and the new ones are very nice. What I love about my S 4 is that I can drive for ever and not see another one. Next time your out and about count up the Vettes you see going to the mall

Corvettes are like a whole different world...
I guess they're not too bad, I've got an older one and my pop has a new one.
I like to look at it, but really don't care to drive it.
My son just turned 16 and loves it, go figure.
The funniest thing is people (general population) get excited & trip all over themselves over Corvettes.
Kinda like me and the Porsches.

Hey Rich,
I want to go to the poney sooooo bad but a couple of workers bolted for the east coast and I don't have the time off BUT I want to fly in to see the runs and hope Jorj is going to hit the magic 200 this year.
Looks like Tim and Cheryl already hit 200mph and are going to do it there I hope..Good Luck with Jorj...can''t wait to see or read all about it !!!
