I am now getting colorful PMs from our friend in the east with the fast growing grass.
Who is the current holder of the "Doesn't play well with others" plaque? I think it may need passing on to this character.

Aha! so that's it...you're a Mustang guy and like all of us, have a natural enmity towards all things Vette! If Brendan had compared the 928 to the new to be released Shelby 500KR, this thread would have gone in an entirely different direction!!!

I do like 60's Vettes as well as many other classics...including my 65 Stang, however I innocently asked why the Vette post... but now to mention the truth... if I had my druthers I'd have the new Jag XKR...there's another can of worms

Every internet forum has a core culture with it's own little set of set of social norms.
As a newbie member, it is wise to read much more than you post. That way you witness the (documented and archived) social interactions and get a feel for the lingo and the social norms.
The danger is reading a little and then jumping to conclusions:
For example, if you read two or three posts in a couple threads where a couple of people bash/flame/make wry comments about a certain member, you may get the mistaken impression that it's accepted practice to bash that member - depsite the fact that this member has done you no wrong, and that those fights are not yours.
Or you may read a racist comment or two and get the impression that you're among bigots. If you're a bigot you may get the impression that expressions of bigotry are an accepted part of this culture - when in fact it's not, and those other bigots just haven't been set straight lately.
In any case, once you have crossed the lines of social decency, you will be called out. You will get flamed and perhaps even censored by the Moderator. This is not unusual for newbies, but the true test of character is their reaction: either chill, STFU, and toe the newly-pointed-out-to-you line - or get angry and hurl some flames back. The second path leads only one way: out of here.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the iconic 928 in the future. Will more cars be restored, or will people stop driving them, hoping to preserve the idea that once was? Or will it become more of a Pantera in that every nut and bolt is take apart, whole systems are changed to something "better" and more updated, and the body is all that remains the same?
I am hoping that I will be happy with the outcome on my project. I hope that it keeps my interest for the time being. But the new 08 Corvette coupe comes with 426hp and a promise to fix it if it brakes for a good amount of time , a slicker shifting 6 speed, HUD, and dozens of other small, incremental improvements, which is something Porsche used to do as well. They directly dealt with the complaints on interior quality with a big leather option.

FWIW I think MaineLandShark is going to fit in well around here
Yo MaineLandShark, in 10 words or less, what is the best vette to own and drive between 1963-1967?
